Hello all,
What is the best material to use to create antenna wires for both 1/72 and 1/48 scale AC.
Also any advice on the best ways to attach them would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
I use fishing wire or simply etired plastic warmed with a candle. for the both, i choise the best diameter in accordance with the scale.

I’ve tried stretch sprue and fishing line for 1/48. Find the fishing line to be the best and I used CA cement for attaching them. I find drilling a small hole where possible, dipping the line in the cement and then inserting it into the hole to be the easiest method for me.
2 or 4# monofiliment fishing line works best for me. Streched sprue is too brittle and will break if you bump it. There’s a great article in FSM all about rigging ant. wires. Dont remember what issue, but if you do a search I’m sure it will come up. good luck!

I use 1 or 2-pound fishing line. Superglue it resonably tight. Strike a match, let the match get burning good, then blow the match out. Hold the match head under the fish line so the smoke drifts up and envelopes it. Get close, but not too close or the line will melt. As soon as the line goes tight, take the match away.

Works like a charm.
#004 invisible thread always works well for me and like Waikong says drill a tiny hole, dip the end in CA and jobs done.[:)]
I also use 1 or 2 Lb. fishing line, attaced with either CA or a little dab of white glue.

I’ve also been wondering about the same question so for those of you who have given some advice and those of you who will give advice, Thanks!
Were do you get the 1 lb. fishing line? I can only find 2 lb. at my local fishing supply store.
.004 and .005 invisible thread for me with a spot of superglue and accelerator.
I’ll 2nd, 3rd, 4th (?) using invisible thread. Run it through a black felt tipped pen to color it. Drill holes, use CA to attach and then as John P advised, use the match method to take the slack out…
Someone send me this when I asked same question: http://www.bobeshobbyhouse.com/ezl.html

Thank you all for your answers, I’ll try some of these out.
Kinda like the E-Z line idea may order some of that to try it out.

(IMO) Invisible thread - avail at (the evil) Walmart
I had never come across EZ line until now. Has anybody used it? How did you get on?
If you’re cheap like me, you can use wife hair and a drop of Super Glue.
I´ve used stretched sprue on 1/72 and i think it worked great. After some practice you can get really thin sprue stretched over a candle.
I use stretched sprue as well. It takes some getting used to, but makes great antenna rigging.
I just recieved the EZ Line sample pack in the mail yesterday going to try it out over the weekend to see how it works. I’ll post the results here either way afterwards.
Cheers

I would be very interested to hear how you get on with the EZ line, I think I like the sound of it!!
