The Dragon Panther D kit includes the ‘stub’ of an antenna— I assume the ‘stub’ should be cut & replaced by stretched sprue or maybe this is the ‘retracted’ antenna?
Any ideas are appreciated.

Not familar with the Panther D specifically, but that is quite typical among armor models. Other than stretched sprue, you can use a bristle from a paint brush (obviously a large paintbrush for use around the house rather than a modeler’s paint brush).
The stub is the mounting post for the antenna. The end of the real antenna is hollow, with a slit running up the side. The antenna is slipped over the mounting post and tightened to the post with a wing-nut clamp.
