The correct answer is the McDonnell Douglas XP-67 Moonbat, designed to be a twin engine heavy fighter. The airframe itself was to provide a great deal of lift and was of the blended fuselage design that is so prevalent in today’s fighters, and it’s unique appearance made it arguably one of the most beautiful aircraft of the era.
The correct answer was submitted by both skybolt2003 and jeaton, necessitating a third and final tie breaker.
The final tie breaker, for Skybolt2003 and jeaton ONLY, will post shortly. If the tie remains unbroken, Skybolt2003 and jeaton will be declared co-champions of Series #5. Thank you all for playing, I hope you all are finding the quizzes enjoyable! Series #6 will start after the final tie breakers are completed.
