Another Zimmed offering: Dragon StuG IV

The latest zimmed offering from Dragon. Didn’t they release a new unzimmed StuG IV recently? This seems like a natural progression then.

So when will they release a StuG III G Late with/zimmerit? [:@]

DML has the StuH with the waffle zimmerit- couldn’t you replace the 10,5cm gun tube with the 7,5cm tube to make a StuG? I don’t enough about the differences between the two, but the 7,5 tube is already included in the box.

And of course they release this after I’ve bought the unzimmed StuG IV…

Yep, this one is part of the natural progression to non-zim kit first, zim kit second (complete with DS tracks vs. the magic tracks) that DML seems to be following.

So to follow that logic Eric, first they have to release a StuG III G Late without zim and then you’ll have the answer. [;)]

Dre, the StuH 42 kit with waffle zim that DML released can’t represent a Late as it doesn’t have the right features (most notably missing the changed loader’s hatches and remote firing roof-mounted MG34) to represent what Eric’s after. [:D]

As always, you are correcto-mongo Bill. However…Dragon has technically released the StuG III Late in the older Imperial Series kit #9014. Knowing Dragon, they will do a newly tooled StuG III G Late and then a zimmed up one. I will have to be very patient to hold out for the zimmed up one.

If I had to lay bets, I’d say you’re probably looking to see one in the next 12-18 months considering they recently (relatively speaking) put out an Early StuG III G w/ Schurzen and that pretty much only leaves the Lates as available choices for the III G line and they seem to be hitting that line-up about once a year or so…however, they also just released the F/8 as an all-new-tool Smart Kit, so the trend may actually be creeping backward toward the earlier StuG Ausf as a result of that, you never know. They are definitely playing both sides of the fence here…if you see an Orange Box release from CH that covers the StuG III G Late, that could also be an indicator of where/how they are heading. Speculation can run wild of course, just have to be patient and see what they come up with as a strategy! [;)]
