Hey everybody! I posted something like this a while back, and I decided to do it again, just to see how things have changed.
Soooo… What are you guys building out there? I want ho hear it! also, what are you planning on doing in the near future?
My current projects are: Accurate Miniatures 1:48 SBD-3 (weathering/final assembly),
AM 1:48 TBF/M 1C (decals and some minor assembly, like the turret),
Monogram 1:48 B-17G (just painted the underside last night, going to do the OD today, and maybe attach the wings)
Fujimi 1:48 USN Flight Deck Crew (Just started taking parts off sprues)
I also have a pro-modeler 1:48 TA-154 and Revell-Germany 1:48 BF-110G-2/R3 in the mail, and I’m planning on doing a conversion of a 1:48 B-17F to a late model A/C, and a -G to an early model.

Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Bubbletop - so far just cockpit
Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter MkVI - making with coastal command markings out of Scotland
Hasegawa 1/32 Me 109 G-6 - Gunther Rall’s bird

Accurate Miniatures 1/48 SB2U-3 Vindicator
Well, my F-15E is hangin out in the garage after being painted with gunship gray with some black added. She’ll then recieve a touch up coat and then some more color, Titanium in the Aft Sections, Gloss white in the bays, and Euro 1 Gray on the radome (finally putting my curved line cutting template to use!!). Then landing gear, decals, and done!
I also have a 1/35 Tiger 1 w/ interior early that will, in the end, contain over 1500 parts, as well as another early for a diorama. That’ll take a while… [:)]
But that’s just a warm-up, another big one, a 3000 part plus 1/350 CVN-68 Nimitz with 3/4 airwing, all thier crew, and a bunch of PE! This one may be motorized with launching cats.
In work Revell 1/48 spitfire mk1 in Sailor Malans markings and Classic Airframes 1/48 Blenheim mk IV in Meditereanen blue scheme. In the wings Revell 1/48 B-17F converted to B-17C and DML 1/35 flak 88.
Building new workbench and shelves. Found out I really don’t have quite enough space to work on the Spruce Goose and the An-22, so I’m redoing the garage.
Once the garage is done and I knock off some of the above items, I’m planning my own B-36 group build - I’m going to do a B-36, a YB-60 conversion, and an XC-99 conversion. Yes, I am insane.
Hasegawa`s 1/72 F9f panther, old kit but nice for testing paint
Hasegawa pbj1 I think, anyway the marines b-25. managed to destroy the guns in the front so it had a pause while the brain worked overtime to find a way to fix it. Haven`t a clue yet…
Hasegawa again 1/48 Hurricane Mk1. Beutiful kit reseeved sky paint the other day. Using X-tra color on this one
Tamiya 1/48 spit Mk1. Started it a good 10 years ago but used the wrong masking tape. covered it in glue. Took 10 years to strip it of paint to start again. At the same level of finishing as the hurricane:)
Roden 1/48 Gloster Gladiator.Took a chance on this one. Quite a positive experience actually. Painted aluminum dope and steel. Planning to finish it in Norwegian colours, red, white and blue stripes on wings and rudder. This is going to hang from the roof in my sons room. He is 2.
And finally Eduards 1/48 Bell aircobra Mk 1.This is ready to recive paint now
As you can see, it is difficult to know where to start
As for me, I’m currently building the Tamiya Fw 190 D-9 completely OOTB for the Battle of Germany GB. So far I’ve got the cockpit put together and both fuselage halves-glued. My goal is to get it done sometime in March. Then I’ll start my GM Wildcat for the carrier aircraft GB that is also in March[:D].
About 90% done on Trumpeter 1/24 Fw 190D-9 converted to a big tail verison for the Battle for Germany GB.
And while waiting for stuff to dry getting some “stick time” on a jug bubble top in 1/48 for the P-47 GB. Pit and engine done… fuselage glued up and will start on the seams soon.
I have only 1 aircraft kit that I am working on and am almost done with right now. My Tamiya A-1H Skyraider. Its got a Future coat and just waiting for decals and wheathering. I have a couple that are close, but will probably be awhile, a Hase F-14A and F-18F. Don’t ask about car kits [#dots]
I actually have only one project going at this time. It is the Revell 1/48 F/A-18E Super Hornet with Two Bobs decals and Steel Beach intake covers and resin exhaust with FOD covers. The decals are for VFA-22 July 2005 on the USS Ronald Reagan.
Need a future coat before applying the decals to my 1/72 Storch. Other than that, I just have the base paint to the cockpit of my next project, 1/48 Bf-109E-4.
1/48 DML Fw190-D9…practicing in prep for the Tri-Master Fw190-D9 - both are for me.
Italeri 1/72 DC-3 (no cargo door) in TAA (Trans Australia Airlines VH-AES “Hawdon” circa 1959)…this is a contract build for a Qantas Pilot…and if you’ve never built one, it’s a GREAT little kit.
still not done on the academy 1/72 memphis belle. have scratchbuilt all interior compartments from the nav to the waist guns. painted but will still drybrush some components to accent. spending a lot of time searching thru the spares box and cutting a lot of plastic…next side project will be the italeri 1/72 sea flanker…
I’m working on a conversion/ correction project for Italeri’s 1/72nd scale F-14A “Plus” Kit. Anyone who has this kit knows how inaccurate it is to depict an accurate F-14B. I’ve made masters of the square-shaped engine fairings for the F-110/ GE-400 engines, afterburner nozzles, “Beaver” tail, Gun bay/ Gas purge vents, and misc. antanie and ECM bumps. I’ve poured the molds and will be casting parts Sunday afternoon to start the build.
The finished model will depict VF-74 “Bedevilers”, USS Saratoga, Desert Storm 1991. VF-74 was first operational squadron to re-equip with the F-14A(Plus/B) back in August, 1988. This was the same squadron, responsible for the interception of the Eqypt Air 737, flown by hyjackers in 1985. It will be displayed on my familiar, custom “in-flight” stand.
