I’m considering conducting another tutorial (including build portion) for my “Jimmy”. This workhorse is my choice for inclusion in the “War in the Desert” GB. I found no workbench review for the Tamiya kit (35218), thought it would be helpful and fun!!!..give me your aye or nay votes.
Stop wondering/worrying about what “we” would be interested in seeing you build or post, and just build/document/post whatever you want to for your own enjoyment! [:P]
doog: I posted this thread this morning and as I thought about it some more, I wondered…what about this build would make for a worthy tutorial?..Maybe I posted the thread because this vehicle is such a departure from tanks, and I thought it would give the forum a resource. I even thought about what you said in your post in my other thread, “all the extra time to document, photos, etc…” and again I’m thinking…? Maybe I’m just thinking too much…[%-)]. This is not the “tutorial forum”, maybe it’s best if I fly solo except for the usual WIP reports…I don’t want to “wear out my welcome”…I’ll wait for a few more posts and then decide…I appreciate your honesty.
SMJ, I just want to clarify–I certainly don’t want you to think for even a second that I’m trying to disparage you from posting anything or any type of tutorial that you might choose to.
I’m just saying that, if you build something with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence, it will show in your already-proven work, and if you decide to post it, we willl all be grateful for it. But don’t feel the need to ask; hell, the forum’s here for modelers and their models!
putting on best Yoda voice, “do, or do not. do not think…”
call it what you will, but if you look at the junior bird men {you know the guys that think of us as TARGETS[:-^] } and some of the other forums, many of the builds are very step by step from A-Z
Now lots are also with massive scratch work, still those of us that are new do need more than “then you dry brush” and of course my favorite “then you do a wash” I need much more hand holding
As for the truck if you take a perfectly servicable tank and mangle it up like your snow build* I cannot wait to see your truck
let’s face it, the thing did NOT look new hehehe beautiful, but not new…
“I don’t believe it!!!”-Luke…(now my best Yoda voice)…“that is why you fail”
Star Wars musing: Just a traditional good versus evil movie with the most awesome special effects ever…but, some darn philosophical lines too…
I’ll be on the hunt for some photos of a really used “Jimmy” here soon, have any? I still plan to do your “stuck in the wadi” idea, thanks again for the idea. Did I tell you I plan to hack the rear wheels in half to get the submerged look!? Should be a blast to build!!! The kit isn’t one of those Tamiya oldies, I’m really looking forward to starting.
I won’t call it a tutorial, actually I’m not sure what to call it. Maybe just a “Follow Along”…or I’ll just throw it out there and see what sticks,…hmmm
