Another T-62 ?

I am getting close to wrapping this one up and just had another question. Since the kit is lacking in the accessory selection, as in none, I am trying to come up with some things to dress it up a bit. Would jerry cans be something to use? I have no idea if the russians use them or what they look like but if they do would u.s. of german ones be workable? So far that is all I have come up with besides maybe rolling up some tarps and hanging them somewhere.Any other ideas are welcome. Ref. pics that were available are not the best at all.
Since I got this kit for nothing, I decided to try and bang it up with some damage, was actually a good feeling tearing up a kit and not feeling bad about how much it costs.

what army will your tank be representing? that will determine a large factor in the weathering, damage, color, exc of the model. but i would say to put whatever you think would look cool on the model. also, think of what your about to put on, and if the crew would really use it.

I’ve got some pictures of Russian t-62’s in Chechnya in prepared positions that show wooden ammo boxes, tarps, food canisters and other items tied to the turret. The strangest pictures I have seen show mattresses, pillows and boxed chickens ?!?! on Taliban t-62’s. The footage was shown on CNN prior to 9/11. They were doing a documentary on the civil war in Afghanistan. The Taliban tanks had a lot of damage and were missing either both or one of the front fenders.

Thanks kaleu. That helps in where to put them. I wonder though if anyone makes an aftermarket package with mattreses and boxed chickens. And to think people feel bad for the chickens on the back of trucks around here, looked like they had a better chance at living than one strapped to a taliban tank.

I’ve never seen US or German jerry-cans on a Russian tank. They always carried those stupid fuel drums in the rear. I’m sure many a tank went up in 4th of July fashion when hit.

I was thinking myself that haveing those would have to of been a bad thing, cause I know if I was going to shoot at one those make some nice targets.

I’ve seen some photos of Soviet T-62’s in training and they had very little stowed on the outside. Mostly all I recall seeing was the unditching beam and tow cables… no real crew stowage out there. OF course, that may have been a staged display for the photographer!

I’d do the Taliban one with the chickens and all the damage! What fun! (put a US soldier behind a rock nearby with a Dragon… heh, heh, heh…)

Yea I like the chicken idea, only thing is though, I would’nt even know how to start scratchbuilding a chicken. I’m pretty sure that’s not been a topic on here before.

First you start with an egg…no wait… Doh!

you can get chickens in the tamiya animals set (theres even eggs in there)

thats from afghanistan dont know what side {i thnk its a T62}

Well then , one day when I get bored this T-62 may get “sold” to the talibans!
