Hi Guys, I’m painting my Revell A400 in 72nd scale, this week. I have the Eduard set for the canopy.
I’m using Tamiya acrylic for the fuselage mixed to the proper gray.
After I apply the masks and before airbrushing the whole beast, should I hand brush MM enamel just on the clear canopy to seal the mask edges and also provide a better base (a primer base) on the clear canopy for the Tamyia acrylic to “bite” on the clear part…Or am I overthinking this?

I just spray straight over the masks and as long as they are sealed properly you will be fine. There would be no harm in doing what you suggest, but its not essential.
I don’t think I would brush any paint over the mask. That just increases the opportunity for the paint to “bleed” under the mask. I have sprayed a clear finish over the masked canopy to seal any gaps along the edges that might not be seen.

If you are going to hand brush, use gloss, then it won’t matter if it bleeds. Though, you’d have to ‘cut’ that seal - with a new blade! - when you want to remove them or your paint may ‘rip’.
I have found that a coat of “Future” applied around the edges of the masks completely prevents the paint from bleeding under, and is compatable with both acrylics and enamels. You’ve probably already dipped your canopies in Future, so adding a little more around the masks with a small brush will be invisible.
I have brushed over masks and regular masking. To reduce bleed-under I always brush from center of mask area towards unmasked areas whenever possible. Of course, with very complicated canopies and hatches with many panels this is not possible, but does work for simple canopies and hatches.
