Hi all,
volunteered to do a group build for my model club, and was tasked with making an F4F-4 Wildcat from the Enterprises “Fighting Six” in 1/72 scale. My aircraft was flown by Beverly W. Reid (Wildcat F-24). Anyone know of a good kit that has great detail and a good build for the buck? Ill add some extra details, but the less I have to buy the better. Thanks for your help!
Frankly, I don’t know of much in the way of 1/72 F4Fs, other than the old HAWK and Revell kits from the 60’s, since I don’t build that scale without being paid or at gunpoint…
But, after a quick Google search, Academy, Hasegawa, and Hobby Boss have 'em in that scale, but Hobby Boss is the Dash-3…

Actually, the HB kit is a -4 out of the box. The better kit with least effort to put in is the Hasegawa kit. It may cost a bit more than the others but builds nicely OOB. Stay away from the Academy kit, it doesn’t look right when completed, lacking the “barrel chest and broad shoulders” that a Wildcat seems to have (my observation).
