Check this out, I just wired my P-47N egine with an igniyion harness, this took about an hour total.

Know what I used? Red metallic thread from the sewing store. Was a piece of cake to cut, attach and position. And to think, my daughter has been using this stuff to sew with for the last year (of all the crazy things).
[:D]
Is it easier to use than armature wire? How did you attach it?
Man that looks incredible
I cut a bunch of two inch long pieces then painted the cylinder heads with accelerator. Now with a drop of superglue on a pad of post it notes I dipped one end of each thread into the glue and touched it to the head where it immediately set. I then pulled the threads back around to the back side of the engine in sets of four where each set was secured with a fine spot of superglue then trimmed off. No prebending involved and looks real neat when complete.
Nice job Swanny. My fiance mentioned she was going to the fabric store the other day and I quickly asked if I could come along. Got a real strange look from her follwed by a drawn out…“ssuuure”. The incredibly thin monofilament and wire you are talking about was the stuff I wish I had when I built my Avenger. As we were checking out I told my fiance, “It’s either this stuff or I continue harvesting your hair for antennae wire.” No complaints followed that remark as she paid for the stuff.
That’s good, Quagyre. I have to tell my wife that one.
hmmm very interesting. hadnt thought about that.

Good idea Matt.
Thanks for the tip.
Your daughter actually used that stuff for sewing?
The things some people will do with modeling materials. [;)]

Looks good Swanny. I’ve always used small copper wire but this looks easier. Have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tip, never was able to bent the wire exactly how I wanted it [^]
Great tip Swanny. You should get paid from FSM for that one! I’ll put it into my best kept modelling tips for future use. thanks. semper fi, mike
Great tip Swanny. The engine looks great. What kit is it that you’re working on? It looks like the Academy kit from here. If it is, what’s the kit like? I’m about to start work on an Academy P-47D. I’ll have to give that little tip a go.
It is the Academy kit. It is the featured review on my site this week - it’s really not bad. I wish it had a choice of open or closed cowl flaps but other than that, not too many complaints.
Hey Swanny, what accelerator are you using? The stuff we sell wants to leave a powery white residue behind. [:(]
Swanny, could you use black thread or is the matelic less plyible and more realistic?Digger
I imagine you could, the red just looked better in my opinion.
Modelgrandpa, I’m just using a run-o-the mill accelerator. I brush a very light coat on that evaporates almost immediately but enough residue is left to cause the glue to stick right now
Swanny… maybe I missed it and prolly did, but the thread is stiff?? or did you have to soak it or something?
It’s not really stiff, I just cut lengths, glued, pulled into position and secured with a little more glue then trimmed.
