Thanks to my good friend Chris (SaltyDog) I now have a new Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Bubble Top Thunderbolt kit.
The P-47 is my favorite WWII aircraft and I asked Chris to keep his eye open for one at the Hobby Lobby sale. To my surprise he found one and emailed me that he had it and sent it right out after he bought it for me.
My thanks to Chris for this favor to me as I appreciate it greatly. [:)]
Modelers are awesome in how they help one another out aren’t they? [tup]

I will definitely post the progress pics of this baby when I start it and I will be buying some Alclad II also when it’s time to paint it.
Swanny,
Those are some awesome decals for sure and I may look into them.
The ones that came with the kit are also nice.
I am tempted to do this P-47D in the “Gabby” Gabreski color scheme but I am not sure.
What do you recommend for seat belts?
Are there aftermarket ones that I should look into or are you implying I should make my own? I have done a few with strips of masking tape painted the color of the seat belts and they looked pretty good. Do you have any better ideas that I could benefit from? [;)]
I’m jealous Mike!! I plan to build a razorback in Bob Johnson’s markings one of these days. I don’t seem to have the time that I need to do any modeling right now though. I look forward to seeing your work on it. I bet you’d love painting Gabby’s scheme on that hoss, I think you should go for it.
aahhh…the joys of modelling

the anticipation
the test fit
