This Huma Me 263 the succesor to the Me 163 was not a good choice for a one day build. It is a short run kit and it did not exactly fall together. Fortunately I have had this week off at work and have been able to finish up so without further ado…
I had to add my own pitot tube and the decals are from my academy kit, except for the swaztika which doesn’t really match but will have to do for now. The kits original decals for the prototypes were completely disfunctional so we have an Me 263 with operational markings even though it never made it into combat. I look forward to your comments. razordws:
i like ur 263… really nice build, the dark camo is very different & striking.
i’m laughing at the thought that academy decals would b a step up,
considering the ones that came w/ my kit were so unsticky…
the huma ones must b really awful !
Frosty: Believe it or not the Academy decals wer a BIG step up!! [:O] I don’t know what those Huma decals were printed on but when I laid them on it was like there was no transparency to the film at all. It was very flat and really stood out against the rest of the model. I didn’t bother trying to use decal solution.
As for paint, I used Gunze for the 74/75 camo for the first time and it was way darker than I expected… but I like it [:D]!
So… how’s your comet coming along? What I saw looks good so far.
Karl: better luck next time and stick to styrene eh! (not literally of course or you’ll need Frosty’s nail polish remover)
