Hi all. Yes, I know, its me again :-H Just done another build. This time, it’s something that you all can relate to.
My version is called, HTU (Humvee Tactical Unit): http://homebuiltstabilizers.com/HTU/index.html
Sharp looking build Tiking. One of the nicer Hummers I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing. Semper Fi, mike
Thank you.
That looks awesome.
Very nice weathering!
Don’t mean to be a jerk, but, why do you build all these fictional military vehicles and present them in the armor forums? They are more appropriate for the SciFi forum. I just don’t see the point in building fictional vehicles. What is all the junk on the top of the roof, and what on earth is its purpose? I don’t get it, maybe its me. Good paint job and weathering, wierd subject.
Gino. I’m going to go easy on you for now unless you give me a reason to get hay wire on you.
First of all how do you know it’s fitional? Secondly, how the hell can you tell me all of my vehicles are fitional when you don’t even ask. Just because you have not seen any of these in real life does not mean they do not exist. And yes, you are being a big jerk. [:(!]If you don’t know something don’t jump to conclusion.
Most of the things I do are modelled after prototyp that are seldom seen. Most of the stuff I do don’t have any model kits out. Just because you are used to seeing ordinary hummers without any gunnery on the top does not mean that arrangment does not exist. Have you seen every single hummer variant in existence? I doubt it.
Don’t get me started!!![:(!]
To all the others I apologies for my rage.
Looks like a good build, a different take on the same old hummers. Hey ,as long as you like it, what other opinion really matters?
Nice build, I like it.
Personally, I prefer kits that vary from the norm and show rare variants, real or not.
Some of you who have seen my models know that I only do seldom seen or rarely seen models. That’s the way I like it. That way, not alot of people have them.
Another reason is that 90% of all modellers are WWII & I fans. S o by comparison, it’s a wonder people say such things.
Believe me. I have seen vehicles that will make you wonder if it is something out of the sifi movie. Like I said, what you don’t see does not mean it doesn’t exist. THanks you guys for the comments[:)]
Tiking- I think it looks terrific. You obviously are an excellent modeller and have a tremendous amount of creativity - keep 'em coming! The armor forum is definitely the place for your builds. We can all learn a lot from them.
HeavyArty - You don’t get it. To each his own. Remember - it’s a hobby.
Jim [:)]
[qoute]Have you seen every single hummer variant in existence? I doubt it.
Don’t get me started!!!

I guess I hit a nerve. By the way, I am an active duty US Army officer and have been in every type of HMMWV out there for the past 11 years. If you don’t want criticism, don’t post on an open forum. You have to take the criticism with the compliments. I have seen many of your works here and at Armorama.com when you post them there, I believe you have a web site as well, most have been fictional. You have good, solid build, just not my taste in subject matter. Which I did mention above.
If you can’t take criticism, dont post your work for comment.
If you must, flail away. I have been civil so far, just adding a little criticism with questions.
Chill, if you can show me a picture of this varient, I will do a full retraction, until then, my quetions stand.
To some of the others who posted above, I do get the to each his own part, but just because it is camo and looks like it was/could be some type of military vehicle does not mean it fits here. That is why we have a SciFi forum. I believe the Armor forum is for actual vehicles represented as they actually are/were in service in an actual military somewhere in the world. Yes the old historically accurate and correct debate.
Wow, nice Hummer, I don’t know anything about them, except what’s on Cribs, but that looks really good.
I will refrain from commenting on the rest. Way to heavy for me[:D][:D]

Question:
Who gets to decide what is appropriate for each forum??
Many builds and items posted on FSM can fit multiple forums.
Does a Figure of a Klingon Warrior go into the SF forum or the Figures forum??
" guess I hit a nerve. By the way, I am an active duty US Army officer and have been in every type of HMMWV out there for the past 11 years. If you don’t want criticism, don’t post on an open forum. You have to take the criticism with the compliments. "
Gino, what really ticked me off was when you said, “…what’s all that junk onthe roof…” Now, you said you’ve been in the military for 11 years and you’ve been in every single hummer known in existence. You mean you are telling me that you have never seen a hummer with more than one gunnery arrangment on the roof? Yes, I mean the things you politely called ‘Junk’!
As a matter of fact, there is a after market kit that offers the exact same thing that I have. Not 100% exact mind you but close to it. That’s where the idea came from. I have seen a pic of this smewhere, I can’t remember, while doing some research, either on militaryphotos website or somewhere else. I’m trying to locate but having difficulty. So many pics of hummers.
Another thing, I can take critisism but not in that manner in which you presented it. You made me to feel completed idiotic to the the fact of my intellegence.
I have taken both negative and positive criticism from all side before and I have responded in descent manner.
I know I can’t please everyone but damn it, if I’m going to be belittled for it.
Alright, you’ve said you’ve ben to my sight and seen some of my models, which are all fitional, at least some you, as you said. Now please tell me which one s you thing are fake? I’m asking this because you said I keep posting fake models on this forum. So now you tell me.
The junk on the roof, yes I have seen multiple weapons station arangemnts, none look like like that though. It looks like you stuck a gunshield from an M101 howitzer up there and some legs from a Milan launcher, among other things. As for your other builds, I’m not going to list which I think look real or not. If you like it, keep building it, its just not my fancy and I don’t like the subject matter.
Wow I had a kindergarden flashback , cool model.
BTW, here is a link to the add-on kit offered by Blast models. Check out the protoype in the left hand column.

Oh my goodness, look at all that junk on top of that hummer and on the bonnet and on the back. My goodness! It’s a diaster.
It’s called kitbashing… You right, I will keep it like that. If you were not interested in modern armery or whatever subject matter why did you post here in the first place???
Anyway, tiring disscussion, let’s move on…[:0]
Dude, you obviously can not take criticism. Your HMMWV does not look like that, far from it.
BTW, I am interrested in modern armor, actual accurate modern armor, that is why I queationed your build, kit-bash, etc.
I give up, you win. If you like it, it is great. I will give the standard answers some peolpe expect/want to hear on the forum.
“The best HMMVW I have ever seen. It looks awesome, I love it.”
Hope you are happy now.
I wish someone would give me criticism beyond the obligatory “Nice Job”. But I would hate to hear my stuff called junk. There is a thing called tact. Plus being a little civil doesn’t hurt. Perhaps it’s from being raised in the south. I dunno, but there’s a way of questioning authenticity without being a butthole about it. Ya know? I am no expert or Master Modeler, just a dude in his basement trying to have a little fun before I push up daisies.
Have fun and be nice for God’s sake.
Just my [2c]
Ted
