Another airmen's hellcat (pics)

Bet you thought I posted this in the wrong forum, hunh?
just finished Academies M18 hellcat, the adornments are from 2 different Tamiya add on sets.

The question is this: Do you think that this is over weathered?

Hey wibhi2,
So thats the Hellcat from Academy…!!! Wheres its wings and tail section??
Na to me you hit it right on the nose w/ the weathering job[:)] I really dont think that there is a limit to the weathering possibilities[;)]
Did you use a pot from a plant as your base?. The way you laid it out, its very eye catching[:)]
A job well done bud[:)][:)][:D][:D].

Great job with the hellcat welcome to Armour
now repeat after me Anti Aircraft Kits
[:D]

Over weathered … not at all, as a matter of fact I think it looks very good. Overall a very nice job wibhi2, you two skeet lovers had better be careful, the darkside is getting to you. Now what’s with the flower pot ?

Hey Sherman,
Remember wibhi2 and myself are a/c builders and if the “dark side” gets to us, we can always hit the rings and eject[:p][:p][B)][:0][;)].

Not over-weathered, just right. Looks like it just came down a dirt road after a spring shower.

Nicely done. Looks just like a dirty, weathered Hellcat  Really, good job, man

Gentlemen,
I thank you all. Those ground up oil color powders are really vibrant and go on so much easier than pastels.[:)][:)]

Butz and Shermanfreak : yeah, that was flower pot. Only thing I could find at the spur of the moment in all of my jubilance (and not wanting to do a proper base). I just wish it were a bit bigger[:I]

CaptainCaveman: Bite thy toungue or I’ll get my thuds[:D]

Good job on the hellcat wibhi2!! I think you got the weathering about perfect on it. Very nice over all.

I personally give you a 10 for originality on your choice of bases. I can honestly say I’ve never seen one like it [:D] [;)]

  • FIELD REPORT from captured german in bad english* de snekin americaners took cover ien de flower pot and struken us by surprizen. Ve thought de ver sunflowers…they blend with de meshen of the patio table…

Eric

ROFL

Very good Eric

You have too much time on your hands erush[:p][:p][;)]. That is a classic LMAO…[:p][:p][:p][:p]
Flaps up, Mike

ROFL. I couldn’t have asked for better, erush.

Okay I lost the bet. I thought the Aircraft Forum was gettin too crowded it spilled over to the Armor segment.[:D]

Now I betcha you dont put your aircraft kits on flower pots. [^]

By the way, great job! I especially like the weathering on the road wheels and skirts.

Very nice job! I’ve contimplated getting that kit. Was it an easy build? Were the tracks single-piece? Great job on the weathering.

Why thank you , allan.
No, never put aeroplanes in the dirt. I do however launch them off the second story balcony for aerial shots.[:D][B)][:D]

Hey tigerman,
the tracks are single piece and nicely rendered. A couple of places where tricky
ie: the suspension and figuring out tthe key for the turret/chasis connection. The suspension is made of 4 parts each that take alot of patirnce to get in place and you have to be careful of the parts and which side they are on. And the cannon needed some extra attention to make it fit in the turret - Otherwise an excellant kit all around.[^][:)]

.
Things do happen ya know and sometimes for a reason too[:p][:p][:p][;)][:)]

That, they do, Butz. That, they do.

looks like the the tan army men under general Plastro have the sink in their control. Green has taken the plant pot observation post back!!! Sarge is coming to check the situation out. By the way army men PC games are kinda fun.

I’ve always wondered about that game. It looked like fun.

woops I guess I owe you a compliment too! nice weathering!!!
