What color is Tamiya bare metal silver? It says this is for the interior (fuselage) and also for the gun bay. Is this aluminum? Chrome silver is way too shiny. I am using model masters. I have looked at 262’s at ARC and some seem to be painted german grey and one appeared to have a olive drab appearance on the interior (not the cockpit).
Thanks again,
Steve
Hey Jetav8r;
most WWII German A/C interiors are RLM 66 or RLM 02, the )2 is used for whell wells, weapons bays and ETC… the 66 was used for cockpits from 1941 on, but 02 was used for cockpits prior to 1941, for the aluminum I use Floquil’s Old Aluminum, Polly Scales Dull Silver, or Humbrol Dull Silver
Steve, Model Master Aluminum over Flat Black works well also.
Thanks for the help.
Steve
I read that the 262’s wheel wells and gun bays (and fuselage interior other than the cockpit) were NOT painted, but were anodized aluminum. The color is said to resemble the inside of a Campbell’s Soup can. Personally, I use Testors’ Model Master “Jet Exhaust” as a “close enough for me” color.
