I dont know if this has been asked before but have you ever considered publishing annual back issues on cdrom?
Given that most of us are now computer literate ,this would be an excelent way of storing back issues and accessing old articles without trips to the attic.
I know there is an index here but with all my back issues I have I would love a CDROM based Index. Maybe??
Count me in for a CDROM.
Not only please me but my wife would be overjoyed.
Dai
spanking idea old bean,so many back issues, that i would like to peruse…
what a great way.to assemble a managable reference library,
all the best bits from F.S.M over a year on one disk…bring it on i’ll buy that for a dollar
We can’t offer you whole issues on CD-ROM (yet!), but a complete cumulative index of FSM is now available on CD. Check out the “Editor’s Pick” on the first page of News & Products in the September issue, or visit this site: www.rmwenterprises.com. The product has a neat feature: it’ll not only let you run all sorts of searches for a particular article or subject, but it’ll show you the first page of each article in the results. That way you can get an idea if the article’s the one you’re looking for before you start pulling magazines down off the shelf.
nice larry…i thought it wouldn’t be long before a forwards looking publication did as such. and i reiterate, an excellent idea…
Personally I’d find a searchable, online database of past issues a lot more useful. That would be updated with every new issue. CDs would be out of date every few months and would be that much more stuff on your hard drive.
How about a once a year CD with the best modellers tips from the forum?
It would be cheaper than doing a print version. Computer magazines give one away every issue, how much could it cost them to do it in bulk?
