My latest figure, painted in acrylics except for the silver and brass. Completed in a week, he’ll be going to Phoenix to compete in the Arizona theme.

Nicely rendered figure Al! Just curious as to the brand of paints that you used, and where the figure came from…LHS or mailorder? Huck p.S. how are you able to complete them so quickly, usually takes me forever!
Huck, most of the paints were Vallejo/Andrea, except for the base grimy black for the hair and the base off white on the shirt and MM acryl British Crimson for the base on the headband. Model master metalizer brass and Testor’s silver for the cartridges and medallion.
Some of the speed was not waiting for oils to cure and staying focussed as an experiment in building to a (self imposed) deadlline. Normally this would have taken 3-4 weeks. He was the only thing I worked on, as well. The Predator I posted last took a couple months start to finish.
I don’t have a local figure specialty dealer, the closest being just outside Boston, 80 miles away. IIRC, I got him from Neal Das at Sentinel Miniatures (http://www.SentinelMiniatures.com) at a show. Other good on;ine figure dealers are Military Miniatures Warehouse (http://wwwmilminwh.com )and The Red Lancer (http://www.redlancers.com)

Well, this guy didn’t place in Phoenix, but I wasn’t really expecting to. However, a mountain man did take third in 54mm unmonted pre-1860 and my Predator, (Andrea’s “Space Hunter”) previously posted here, took first in sci-fi figures post 1970. [:D]
Al Congrats on the first at nationals, that “Space Hunter” figure is exceptional. I also wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your tips. My next figure project is somewhat off the wall, a 1963 Marx figure…I’m guessing 1/16th scale - a Russian WWII officer. Picked it up in Georgetown, Ky at an Antiques store when we went to the Bengals Training Camp - only paid $3.00. Huck
