...And The World Fell Into The Abyss

I liked the review of the Academy kit with the Pz I ausf B and the Motorcycle w/side car. So along with some old Tamiya figures and a kit from MiniArt, I decided to make this diorama. It is the morning of September 1, 1939 and Wehrmacht forces are at the border with Poland as they receive their orders to invade their neighboring country. With that action, WWII has commenced ‘and the world will fall into the abyss’
.

Looks like it has the makings for a good diorama! :grinning:

Off to a great start on this one Manuel. Looking forward to seeing what you’ll be doing here.

Now that the BMW and sidecar are done, I can go to the Pz. I ausf B. Again this is a very nice build, although it has some delicate parts, especially the tracks. They are fragile and you don’t get too many extra links for in case of breakage. I had some vinyl tracks from a Tamiya Pz. I but they lacked enough features. So, I ordered some AM track links. They too were fragile, and went together well, but luckily, I had enough, in case of accidents. Once the tracks were done, I airbrushed the tank, added decals and the tank number placards and weathered it as I went along. I gave it yellow colored balkenkreuzes as the Germans found out that the original white ones were excellent targets for Polish anti-tank gunners. The Pz. I only came with a TC, but I decided to open up the side hatches and add one more crewman to the vehicle. Enjoy the WIP pics as more will follow.

That Panzer 1 kit looks sharp. All the more so for having recently watch the Aus Armor Museum rebuild their own PzKfz I to running condition.

ok, your build is looking good! Makes want to put away my stamps and get back on the bench!

Unfortunately, I had an abundant amount of older Tamiya figures, which I thought would be nice to finally use, and for this diorama I did, along with the 4 figures from the Academy box. Fortunately they provided me with what I needed, so here are the figures that I’ll be using in this project.

Hey CapnMac and MrchntMarine, thank you for the comments. I put the figures for the vehicles in their respective places. I have a resin cobblestone road that I will prepare shortly along with a border/checkpoint kit from MiniArt ready to be done. Enjoy more WIP pics.

That’s some really fast and quality work there, TigerII. Putting the figures on really brings it to life, too.

Well, I put together the gatehouse and the frontier/border gate. I was able to print out the Polish Eagle and put it on the gate. I was able to put the figures where I thought they would go well, and the finished product is done for the 2024 year. I took my time with this one, I especially liked how the cobblestone street came out. Enjoy the pics and as always, all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Happy New Year to ALL.

Awesome work! :medal_military:
Love how you composed the diorama. The scene feels like it’s a still photo.

Hey Phoenix and Toimi_Tom, thank you for your comments. I am still in the process of looking for some adequate background pics.

That came out really well, @TigerII! Really creative, the way you posed those soldiers lifting the gate… the tipped-over chair. Tells a story. And that cobblestone street is :ok_hand:

I have this thing, about having dioramas not having a background picture to put them in context and bringing them to life. I finally found some for this diorama. So here are some more pics with what I feel are adequate backgrounds. I hope you like them as much as my wife and I did. This will be my last posting on this post. Again, thank you for your kind comments and critiques.

Awesome diorama of an important historical event. The interaction of your figures and their positioning works so well. You also did a very good job on your Panzer I and your motorcycle sidecar rig.
