Hi Modelers,
to cool myself down from glueing , sanding and cursing my Ju88 I have finished this little Model from Huma. Its the Flettner 282, one of the first Helis ever (1940). It was a direct development of the FL265 (1938) and like this it had counter rotating rotor blades,. The 282 featured a steel framework with welded engine block, unglazed front part (first ones) and a BMW 314e Motor with 160 hp.The flying characteristics were excellent so the RLM ordered 1000 pieces of which only 24 were delivered.
The kit is really good with fine detail (only the motor has 17 pieces! ), it went together quite well with only few putty (CA) required where the 2 fuselage halves went together. I have build a machine flown for tests on the mineboat Drache in 1943. As it was a prototype I weathered it only a very bit . I added seatbelts from Eduard. The rest is OOB. The Decals were on the thicker side and not that good. Anyway, hope you like it.
And to show you how BIG this thing was (Kuebelwagen from Tamiya in 1/48):
“I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK…” Anytime someone uses that title I get jarred into a little Python mode. But, to the point, that’s one fine little model, and exquisitely built, too. Either you did a lot of work on the individual parts or the moldings were pretty crisp on this Huma kit. Either way, it is the ideal build I would pick for getting away from cockpit/fuselagehalves/wings, which is really starting to wear on me. Not enough to go into armor, mind you, but I need a break similar to this. I just learned I won a set of three models consisting of that moldy old Monogram Wright Flyer we all built as children, an Airfix MGB (OK, I can live with that) and a Monogram 1963 Corvette. I do not remember bidding on these things. I do not remember wanting them. But now, I am stuck with them. So I guess I’ll have something completely different too.
But I wish I had that little German chopper instead.
Hiya phil,
MMmmmm, you would not get me into one of those things even if ya paid me… Cool build indeed.
I like the subtle weathing that you did on her. How long did it take you to construct her? Interesting size comparision
Flaps up, Mike
Monty is great, isn´t it? Remember that school for funny walks?
I have ta say that the detail is crisp and you don´t have to spend hours on cleaning and sanding. Very little flash. And some of the tiniest little bits of plastic I have ever seen. Hard to cut out.
@ Butz, It only took me at least two weeks of work (only a bit every day) Goes together very good. Is Huma available in the States?
And by the way, thanks for your words. Sometimes I need that. And today was a day I could really have spend hours reading nice replies
Hey phil,
Yeah know I am not to sure if Huma is avalible here in the states. A part of me wants to say yes and the other part is undecided.
Wouldn’t mind trying that… Yeah know something different[;)]

I’m pretty sure Huma is in the Squadron catelogue. Or is that Homa Model? Or is it Huma? Somebody help me before I short out here…
…I cut down trees, I wear high heels, I go to the lava’try!
Very nice and interesting model. I’d love to try it. Huma does appear on the Squadron website, but not that particular model. I’ll be keeping my eye out for it, though . . . .
