And Jill came tumbling after

I got to finish my 1/48 Hasegawa B6N2 “Jill” today. I used the very nice Eduard photoetch detail set on this build. The kit’s canopy is molded shut, so I used a Squadron vac. Even after a few dips in Future, I’m a little disappointed in its lack of clarity. I also added wiring to the cockpit and engine. It’s painted with discontinued Aeromaster Warbird Acrylics. The colors are Nakajima Navy Green, Nakajima Navy Gray, Cowl Blue Black, and Propeller Red Brown Primer. I mixed Model Master enamels to get the Nakajima Cockpit Color. The Aotake Blue anti-corrosive is Gunze Clear Blue, mixed with Future, and sprayed over Alcad Chrome. The landing gear are Alcad White Aluminum, and the torpedo is Alcad Aluminum.

My photo sources don’t show an aerial, and the way the wing folds, it would be in the way. Until I find a pic showing a wire, mine won’t have one.

And I get to use one of my new backdrops !

Hope you like her as much as I do ! It’s a GREAT kit !

Thanks for letting me share the build with you !

Bill,

Let me be the first to congratulate you on another fine build.

Steve

Beautiful!

thanks for sharing it, another one for the display case![:D]

looks great, bill. what is the thingy forward of the cockpit ? the antennae like thingy

another work of art. Thanks for sharing Jason

Excellent build Pix. I’ve had this kit in my “pending” pile for a while now. May have to move it to my “to do” pile. Great build, thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

I dont want to be rood, but it looks ******g AMAZING!!!

Thank you pix for all the insperation you give![:)]

Nicely done…yes, very nice indeed. Another great build Pix, thanks for sharing.

BTW when do we get to see some of your builds in action shot again?

One of my favorite Japanese aircraft and I must say you done her justice. Thanks for the ride.

Thank you crockett, nicodemus, reggie, Jason, Rick, ShModeler, Model Grandpa, and tigerman !

reggie - that is indeed the antenna mast. This was designed as a carrier aircraft, so the mast’s angle probably has something to do with the folding wings and the carrier’s elevator size. In the wartime pics I’ve found, you can’t see an antenna wire against the sky. Wish I knew for sure.

Rick - the Eduard PE set is really worth the $, if just for those gunsights ! The outer wing panels are a bad fit if you install the interior detail at the wingfold (guess how I know that?). If you build the wings extended, just use the hinges (paets N5). The pegs/vinyl grommets won’t hold the wings in place when you extend them.

Model Grandpa - I haven’t done one in quite a while. Just about every build I’ve done lately has the canopy glued open. It’s easy to digitally remove landing gear, but canopies and open panels can be nearly impossible (without a LOT of work) to “close” digitally.

tigerman - I agree with you about the Jill’s lines. The Japanese had some graceful and colorful birds. I’d like to see more IJN/IJA aircraft being built. I’d also like to see a manufacturer release a G3M “Nell” in 1/48 (Trumpeter?).

Thanks again ! It was a fun build, and I’m kinda sad it’s over.

Wow, beautiful piece of work. I’m impressed!

Wow pix, you’ve done it again. Produced another jaw-dropping effort that is. Top class work mate. Thanks for the pics.

Pix - very nice job.

As always, beautiful work Bill. Semper Fi, mike

Perhaps a Frances in 1/48? I know they make one in 1/72.

Award winning Pix… beautiful

Looks Great Pix. I love the detail you put in these things

Man… that looks GREAT, Bill; Jill sure does look like she’s ready for a fight! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work, always enjoy it! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

The Jill looks great Pix

Thad

WOW…She looks nicer than the Jack. Another Great model. Is there a color that closely matches the wheel well / flap color without doing all that you did?

What is next??
