An Unfortunate Event...

Here is a link to my in progress diorama. Its set near Pussan. A willy’s full of soldiers on their way meet with an unfortunate event when they meet with a sniper who has shot through the front windscreen and caused the Willys to veer off the road and into a water laden ditch… This is 1/35 scale…Any and all comments welcome…

Looks like you’re off to a good start. Can’t wait to see the finished product, wonderful work on the foliage.

Regards,

Steve

Love the setting Mary, cool idea! Your groundcover is excellent as is your waterfilled ditch. Excellent stuff!

Nice work so far! Should call it “Heads Up”.

Dan

Ma’am, how did you do the water in your diorama? It’s quite convincing.

OH MY GOD WHERE ARE ALL THE HEADS!!![:O][:D]
Thats good work that you have done in the begining. Im sure just like the Zombi dio you did, that this one will be just as good. [tup][tup]

Very nicely done. The groundwork and foliage just plain and simple look REAL. Perhaps some more emphasis on the skidmarks (if any) where the jeep veered offroad whould be more effective in demonstrating the drama of the moment.

Beautiful start, Mary, you really done a fine job!! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Looking great, keep us updated!

Love the “MAS*H 4077” sign! My favorite show! Your dio is looking incredible, I can’t wait to see it done!

Looking good!

Thanks everyone for the comments. To answer your question Zaphod, the water is Woodland Scenics Realistic Water tinted with a bit of Vallejo acyrlic paints. Wonderful stuff to work with…Pours straight from the bottle.
To get the effect i have, After i prepared the celluclay, allowed it to dry and painted it…i did this…

  • Started by doing several dark oil washes on the bottom most part of the ditch bed. allowing the oil wash to soak in and dry between coats.
  • After that i did several dark green oil washes, highly thinned, over the sides of the ditch, and lightly over the bottom.

That was basically it… I did go back as i looked at it…and gave more dark and green oil washes as i saw fit to give the banks and bottom more realistic coloring. Followed all that up by laying down some fine green turf along the banks of the ditch.

Mary

Very nice Mary. Thanks for the link.
