G’day Folk’s,

This 48 scale model has been modified from the current Tamiya ‘Grand Slam’ B1 Special Bomber, back to a standard bomber configuration, it’s also minus the gymicks that come with it [the electric motor’s to spin the props, which incidently if the tyres where not bulged the model will actually move, with all props spining]. It was built on contract to the RAAF Officer Training School as ‘G’ Goerge, which stands in the Australian War Mererial in Canberra, the upper gun turret is supplied in the kit along with two Merlin or Packard Merlin in line engines, if these are fitted to the model the cowling will not sit over them because of the exhausts.
The bomb bay [which forms part of the cockpit floor], was replaced with a resin substitute along with the bomb load and doors, the actuators are made from evergreen plastic rod and tubing. The model has an 80thou packing on either wing butt joint to keep them level. The model has been finished in the xtra colour range of RAF paints, the decals are a local aftermarket.
Rob.
