An over-looked Trumpeter 1/35 korean tank......??

Somehow two days ago I was at the LHS and noticed this kit on their shelves…

The owner says it came out like YEARS ago and its discontinued or something. I was taken by the artwork but at $45 i had to ask him to hold it aside for me a few days ,because I wanted to see if any of you has built it and can say if it was great or not because I was TOTALLY not aware of this release…

I will likely pick it up end of the week anyway…just wanted more insight and stuff from you guys first. [:^)]

It is an older kit and has been superseded by Trumpeter’s own K1A1 and Academy’s more recent K1A1.

It’s not a particularly pleasant build either. The one I started a few years ago ended up being donated to the local junior demolition team. I believe the Acad kit builds up quite nicely.

Ditto what the two gentlemen pointed out.

I picked one up several years ago and tossed in our club’s raffle when the Academy kit came out. The Academy kit is state of the art and supersedes it in pretty much every possible way.

Please note also as they guys pointed out the Academy kit is the modern K1A1 with a 120mm main gun, the Trumpeter kit you’re looking at is an older version of the MBT with a 88mm weapon.

Erm, 105mm.

The 88 comes from the name of the tank: Type 88. (K1 is a Western designation)

bought a bunch of those early trmp tanks 5-6 yrs ago hit or mis some of them were crappy copies of other co. stuff but gotthem for under 10

I bought this kit 2 months ago from a local hobby shop at USD 13.

For the price , I will say its not bad. Fit was so so, detail was good. I like the fact, it did provide 3 Korean crew.
