Hi everyone,
My name is Doug Hamilton, and I live in Stamford CT. My modeling interests are in the areas of the American Civil War, Aircraft of the United States Marine Corps, Le Mans style race cars, figures, and ships. Come to think of it, I model almost every area that comprises our grand hobby!! Whatever catchs my eye is what I like to build.
I’m a member of two modeling clubs, IPMS Stratford and IPMS CT Yankee. In the Stratford club, I’ve held just about every office on the executive board, and in CT Yankee, I’m the founder and President. I’m also Region 1 Coordinator for IPMS/USA here in the Northeast.
I really enjoy our hobby for all it has to offer and especially like looking at great models, and meeting with the many friends I’ve gotten from the hobby. My most shining moment so far has been winning a First Place at the IPMS Nationals this year in Atlanta with my USS Monitor Turret.
Professionally, I work for the City of Stamford (CT) where I’m the Marine Operations Supervisor. In that capacity I manage three municipal marinas, and deal with a host of water related issues. I’ve been on the job for 20 years, and am looking forwward to retirement. My plans for retirement include bulding more models and maybe doing some guide work at a National Parks Service Civil War site. My second job is that of Sexton of our church. Being a part time job, it still allows me time for my RC duties and building.
