An incredible Father's Day!

Fellas, I had to share this with you.

First, I must thank God for my wonderful wife Christy, son Robert and daughter Melissa. They are truly gifts from Heaven.

They gave me an incredible present…

They knew the Spitfire GB was coming up, so they gave me a Hasegawa Mk. IX. That’s so cool.

They also know that Johnnie Johnson is my favorite RAF pilot. They gave me this:

It’s a print of Johnson’s Mk. IX over the D-Day invasion beaches.

AND IT’S SIGNED BY JOHNNIE JOHNSON. Take a look in the lower left corner!

It brought me to tears… wow.

I am so thankful for my family!

WOW Jon… nice. A loving family for sure.

You are a lucky man, Jon!

That is awesome, Jon! WAAAAYYY too cool! I hope you have a nice plae to hang it!

Great gifts Jon. Congrats on the haul & on having a great family.

Regards, Rick

Nice!! I got an Amp for my guitar. Now when the lady upstairs wants to play the noise game I am ready!! [}:)]

Jon, sound like you have a great family! Congrats and happy fathers day.

Hi Jon,

never enough Spitfires!!!

Enjoy

Greg

Sounds like a perfect day to me!!! [:D]

I REEEEALLY like that painting. Do you have a spot all picked out for it? Maybe in an office or behind the computer desk? Make sure you post a photo once it is up! [tup]

Awesome gift, Jon!

Me, I’m now another step closer to being able to actually model! My wife gave me a generator/compressor from Airbrush Depot! I still don’t have a place to work, though. It’s going to come down to a battle with my son over control of the little spare room - he turns 16 this Friday (Wednesday is my 20th wedding anniversary, so that tells you he’s clearly got the age advantage) - but on a good day I think I can take him. Darn kid’s way too active to be interested in such a sedentary pastime as model-building. What a pity. But I’m blessed with 2 healthy, active kids - so I can’t complain (but I still do).

Wonderful gift Jon! That wife of yours is a wonderful Lady!

Awesome Jon! Sounds like you have a great family my friend! [:)]

Lucky you! Can you tell me who the artist is?

Thanks so much guys for all the kind words!

mucker, Midnight Storm- We’re building an addition to our house, and part of it is my modeling room. It’ll go in there, right above the Mk. IX I will build. [;)]

edorc- The artist is Mark Postlethwaite, who does some great work.

Jon, just a question, How many Spitfires do you have.

And my neighbor flew Spitfires during the Battle of Britian in one of the Eagle Squadrons. He said it was a beautiful airplane, in looks and in flight.

David

WOW! Who is he? How cool!

Right now, my built Spitfires are two Mk. IXs and a Mk.II in 1/48 scale, and a Mk. V and Mk. VIII in 1/72 scale. Waiting in the stash are (in 1/48 scale) a Mk. I, Mk. Vb, Mk. Vc/Seafire III, a Mk. VII, two Mk. IXs, a Mk. 22/24, and two Seafire FR. 46/47s. In 72nd scale, I have a Mk. I, Mk. IX and Mk. XVI, as well as an S6B.

Now- many folks have more Spitfires built and in their stash. But I’ve only been back in the hobby a bit over a year, and only have about 30 total kits in the stash… and only a dozen total built! So I’ve gone Spitfire ga-ga in a short time. LOL

Thing is- I haven’t gotten tired of them- I love those planes.

Do you have “Spitfire-itis” too? [;)]

I’d love to hear more about your neighbor!

Jon,

so now I understand that I am not only one going through “insane state” and grab all those models  I started (restarted) this hobby about three months ago and already have four Spitfires (not counting old monogram Mk II (11 as they marked it  ) and I think that it is not enough  LOL

Greg

I have the Revell kit in 1/48, I don’t know which model, Im picked it up at Michaels for $6.

His name is Ralph Desutter.

I go over and talk to my neighbor alot and he gives me all of his Air Force magazines, just ask me some questions and I’ll be glad to PM you the answers. He LOVES talking about the Spitfire, he says it is the most beautiful plane in the world and I can only smile and agree with him. On my block, I have a retired Lt. Colonel who fought in Korea and Vietnam, a Colonel who flew Spitfires, a Lieutenat who flew B-25s in Europe. The one who flew B-25s still has pieces of Flak and airplane embedded in his leg from when he was hit. But I’d be glad to try to answer any questions you have about my neighbor. What I know is that he flew spits in the Eagle squadron and then was assigned to the 8th AF where I think he flew Mustangs. What I need to ask him is if he scored any kills.

David

Awesome gifts, Jon!

I got a homemade burrito, a used George Foreman Grill, and a couple of second-hand CD’s from the kids and the ex-wife.

My girlfriend sent a nice card.

And I have two two-day-weekends-off coming up, the better to build models! So I’m happy!

hope it isnt one of those forgeries that have been the buzz lately at model shows…
