Spent this last Sunday supporting my local IPMS chapter with a show/display at one of the malls here in El Paso. It was an all day event/exhibition designed to promote the hobby and also showcase the club members’ work. For those interested, we’ve put up a gallery on the club’s website http://www.ipmselpaso.com/phpBB2/album_cat.php?cat_id=10 that you are welcome to browse through at your convenience.
Our club has no aphiliation with IPMS, but we put on a show like this once or twice a year. We have a people’s choice award and I got second last year, and first this year w/ my F-15.
There fun, but 10 hours is sometimes a little long.
10 hours would be a bit long…this one started with set-up about 8:30 and was over and packed up by 5 pm so not too bad. We easily had over 300+ models of all types on display in different scales although I wasn’t able to get an exact count. The best part was seeing the young kids eyes light up…that’s the age when the “oooh-ahhhh” factor is often the hook. I still remember the first time (not all that long ago) I first saw a completed model and got that spark. [:D]
thanks for the cool pics wbill76— i have never seen a model show-- it looks like a lot of fun and a great way to see your work / their work-- treadwell
The ooh, ahh stuff comes out of my mouth everytime I see a newly posted build. [;)] Shame it can’t kick me in the end and get me to my bench though. Just teasing, the bug is coming back. I worked all weekend with my son helping him build his Revell LAV-25 and M113. Ready for some paint. Me?More later…
Any model show around NYC/LI area>?
