An Aussie Mk VIII Spit - progress

G’day Folk’s,

This Hasegawa 48 Spitfire Mk VIII, is replicated here as the personal mount of Sdn Ldr Bruce Watson, C.O of 457 Suadron RAAF based on Morotai, early 1945, this bird has a smaller Sharks Mouth applied to the nose and had a field applied cammo scheme that did not follow either the ‘A’ or ‘B’ standard patern of the time. The model is built OOB but the decals are from a very old Ventura set.

This subject has been painted in the standard RAF Temperate Land scheme colour’s of L.A.Grey /Ocean Grey and Dark Green, the white leading edge ID on the wing of this bird will be made from a painted decal film, as this aircraft was lesser known of the more menacing and much larger ‘Grey Nurse’ Shark Mouth applied to the squadron’s aircraft, they also carried the Ace of Spades on their rudder, this was one of the Squadron’s that made up part of the 1st Tactical Air Force

Looks cool so far. I built the old Otaki kit years back and finished it in green and brown although it’s probably not accurate for the markings I chose. But, accurate or not, I rather like the look of those colors.

Someday I’ll have to build one in the gray and green scheme for the sake of accuracy.

Oh, and good luck with those Ventura decals…

Nice job. I’m about to try my first camo pattern on an F-5 I hope it turns out half as good as that hehe.

looks pretty good, so far.

Looks good so far mate. The camo looks awesome. Thanks for the pics.
