an armor "What the heck are these" question

What the heck are these? And what kind of finish would they have? Color? Steel? Rusty?

Thanks in advance.

They look like ice/snow cleat grousers to be added to the tracks to improve traction. Have to admit though that’s the first time I’ve seen any with that style. They would be the same as the tracks in terms of a steel color with perhaps light superficial rust assuming I’ve ID’d them correctly. [:D]

You, ice cleats. Finish the same as spare tracks.

Thanks guys. 1 more thing to hang off the side and still be OOB[:P]

A usage question… (if I’m going to the dark side… better start learning)…how many would be used? Not enough space to store one for every track so just cuirous how far apart they would be spaced.

I can’t tell exactly, but it looks like you are working on a Panther, are these tracks the same size as the ones used on the drive sprockets? If not, these might be improvised armor upgrades from another type of tracked vehicle… which would be a really weird thing for Dragon to throw into a kit.

ones for IV are 1 per 3 links, never made panther winter tracks…

thanks for the ice cleat lesson rios, but your a little late as mine are 1 for every 5[banghead]

So they might be humming some Simon& Garfunkel tunes…

Hello,

These parts are indeed ice cleats/grousers designed for Panther track. I have seen a picture of an all steel wheeled Panther G , knocked out in the Ardennes , in numerous publications, which has numerous cleats hanging off the turret. This Panther is an early G model without the " chin mantlet", and the raised air intake. But these parts make an interesting addition to any late war Panther.I hope this helps.
