Can anyone tell me what techniques work best for painting the ALQ-144 on the 1/35 OH-58D?
Thanks.

For the “disco ball”, I first paint it silver, then clear turn signal amber, lastly, I paint the horizontal dividing lines black.
I have an interesting way of doing the “disco ball” on my helos. I use a Twix wrapper. It looks good, and you get a snack while doing it! I basically superglue one end down securely, let it dry, pull it tight and superglue again until its secure all around. Just trim up the excess with a sharp no.11 blade and you’re done. It’s a little slow going, but worth it. The effect is great!
Try Arty’s idea with a mix of amber and red. The color of the 144 is pretty hard to replicate. It can actually look any where from orange to purple to red, depending on the lighting
