Who would have thought??
I built this about two years ago. Its Tamiya “new” Jeep w/ the old kits trailer.
I used aftermarket parts from Verlinden and Evergreen plastic sheet and rod to make the wire cutter.
For the chain hook up from the trailer to the jeep, you guessed it I used actual chains(what scale I am not sure) I picked what best matched the ref pics.
The sheets that you see hanging over the sides are either made w/ tissue paper or tin foil. There is more that I did but at this moment I am drawing a blank…
I put this lil guy in the markings of the 87th Chemical Mortar Batl. I meet a few guys who were from that unit and actually made this jeep that a Sgt Peter Unsler used. How cool is that.
For some reason the pic seems to be a lil blury sorry bout that[:(]
With out further due her she is…
Flaps up, Mike
Nice looking piece, even if it did come from one of you “Fly-Boys” [;)]
Seriously, really nice job and the base sets the tone!
PS…I am currently working on a Tamiya 1/48 Me262-A2a[:D]
Nice job Mike. The weathering is very good and it is displayed very nicely.
That Tamiya Jeep is a sweet little kit.
You may have missed your calling and should have stayed with Armour.
Thats a really nice piece Mike. Today a Tamiya jeep…tomorow a 97. I like the weathering you did on this. ANd the base is a nice show piece.
Insert golf clap here…
Mike
Hey Erock,
Tank you too kindly my friend. I as well like the base.
I actually based it after a pic I have which was taken in Russia a few years ago. It was a friend of the family that had gone there to visited some of his family on there farm.
When I saw that paricular shot, I know that this would be an ideal WWII scene.Yes I actually built the base first than the Jeep!! Go figure?? Usually I do the opposite[:p]
Overall I like the way everything came togehter to represent a nice show piece.
Hey Sherman,
Bite your tongue[xx(][:p]. My heart will always be w/ a/c and a/c building but there is a dark side of me that will do targets I mean armor once in awhile[:p][:D]
I have a few ideas on the back burner that I look forward to doing.
Flaps up, Mike
Hey renarts,
Long time no hear[:D]. So how are your modelling projects coming along??
Na I think for my next armor piece, it will be either the new Tamiya M1025 HUMVEE or AFVs Stuart(I think its a Stuart, haven’t looked at it in awhile[:(]).
I am going towards the HUMVEE cause I want to put it in the markings of the 101st AB which one of my friends is asigned to.
You know Mike sometimes I surprise myself in the things that I build[:I][:p][:0]

haw, youse ain’t the only one Butz.
putting on the last coats of dull coat on academy’s m18.
Now back to my F100D while this stuff dries
Hey wibhi2,
Cool beans my friend. So how long did it take you to assemble the M18?
The Jeep only took me about 20mins to assemble and paint[:p][:p][:p][:p](Lil inside joke w/ our clubs armor builders [:p][B)])
I was quite surprised the overall time that it took me to complete this lil guy[:)].
I feel getting away from the norm helps me exercise my skills, techniques and other disabilities I mean modelling abilities[:p][;)]

Great job Butz! I love the base and the camo job you did. The pic wasn’t too blurry to hide the excellent work. And hey, this Armor guy just crossed over too. I just put the final clearcoat on Hobbycraft’s Canadian CF 105 Arrow a few hours ago. Now I’m packing it up to take to my model meeting tomorrow night.
Hey Duke Maddog,
Whats this world coming to?? A/C builders building armor pieces and Armor builders building a/c[:p][:p]
Just hope in our build we dont mix the two together[:0] I’m glad you liked it.
My Model meeting is this Monday so I have to get my 262(a/c thread) out of the display case at Ace Hobby shop so I can take it[:)]
Flaps up, Mike
You’re beginning to like hanging out over here with us Armour Fanatics aren’t you Mike.
Feel the dark side drawing you closer … LOL
Hey Sherman,
You did not hear it from me but I kinda like it here on the dark side[:0].
Do I see myself as a converter???[:0]
Flaps up, Mike
What can I say … us tank lovers are a friendly bunch.
What can be more fun than building something nice and clean and then try wrecking it and rolling it in the mud.
TRUE TRUE…!!! I would have to agree[:D]
Flaps up, Mike
Face it, you’re hooked. Throw out those flying things and get some mud on your models.
Ya know what they say…Once you go tracks you never go back…
Mike
Awsome job on the jeep Butz! Very nicely done!! The base sets it off and is well done too! Can’t say enough good things about it, weathering, paint, accessories all well done!!
Eric
HEy Butz,
your pict finally showed for me. Wow,that is really awesome. I am almost ashamed of my efforts by comparrison. Funny how those lil’ guys go together so quickly. M18 took me about 40 hrs (over 3 months) all said and done.
methinks my next break project will be a M3 75mm
Great job butz! You got the weathering just right.
great job on the jeep, i love the base its very nice
just a thought,[:)] you could try a Mobilwagon or Wirbelwind next [:0]
I followed the trail of cookie crumbs and Alas! Another great piece! Fabulous work, Butz! The fences was a nice addition, too.[8D]
