An A-4 Question regarding the RAN/RNZAF

Dear Forum,

I had a question for you…hoping you might be able to help…I wanted to model the A-4 in the wraparound paint scheme of aircraft grey and admiralty blue…Now, I know the RAN Royal Aussie navy painted their A-4G like this and that later the A-4’s went to the RNZAF and became A-4K’s with the Tri-colored green schemes…however…Did the RNZAF use the wraparound scheme of admiralty blue and aircraft grey…and if so which hasegawa A-4 should I purchase to recreate this?

Or better yet…does anyone know which paint schemes kiwi A-4’s were ever painted in?

Thanks for all your help

Well as it may be I bought a ProModeler A-4F (Hasagawa rebox) on clearance for $7 yesterday and was looking at my Skyhawk books thinking about doing an A-4G like yourself and noticed in an old Osprey book there is a black and white photo of an A-4G in New Zealand Markings that apears to be in the RAN blue/gray scheme. Its serial number was A-4G, NZ6216 with 216 on the nose (of note it also says the aircraft started out as a US Navy A-4F). I always thought it was a photo of an Aussie A-4, but it has a Kiwi not a Kangaroo. I don’t know how long it remained in this scheme but at least for a short period of time the RNZAF A-4G had a blue/gray color scheme. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys,

Your input was very helpful.
