AMT's Rancor

Hi Everyone,

As the title says this is the Rancor. It’s a nice kit that is well detailed. I usually have problems getting a nice seem on vinyl kits but these turned out pretty good. Any ways let’s get to the pictures.

Hope you like it. Any comments welcome.

I built one these some years ago and a Star Wars fanatic bought it from me at a club display. Do this to really jazz yours up. It’s what really brought mine to life and caused much conversation when folks looked at it.

Make some really cool looking drool from Testors plastic tube glue. It strings like drool and is perfectly clear. As it sets, string it out a little. Looks like the real thing.

That is beautiful.

Detailed and well thought out.

Great colors… love it.

Tom, Thanks for looking in. I was thinking of a way to create some drool. Thought about using a hot glue gun, but the testors glue is a good idea also.

Gerry, I’m glad you like the way it turned out. For an old AMT mold the kit was better than I expected it to be.

An old AMT kit? Well then I’m more impressed. I’m guessing you added those chain links yourself?

Nice touch. The skin paint job is great.

A kit? I never saw a kit of the Rancor. My model was a modified toy I purchased off the shelf at Toys R Us. It was about 12" tall if I recall correctly.

Yes, this was a kit. AMT made vinyl kits of the Rancor, Luke, Han and the Emporer. I got mine off of Ebay.

Wow! Nice work Stephen! Great work there on all those little wrinkles, scales, spikes and stuff on his skin, it really brings the model to life!
