Short-track late model sportsman kit. Plagued with endless flash… but too cool of a subject. The kit (outside of the plastic) is really cool. Comes with a history booklet with reference photos and a tiny cut-out model box… I don’t know why, but I just love it and wish everyone would do this
This is a terrible kit! The flash… every single part has flash and ejector pin markings, lack of locating… argh! Though the big decals went on nice and responded well to setting solution. If I were’nt enamored with the late model sportsman I’d punt on this one. I’m so apprehensive about the suspension and mounting the wheels. We will see. I’m hoping this one looks good on the shelf - just don’t look inside or under the hood :-0. I just don’t have patience for these old kits, especially after building the Tamiya 1/12 Nija ZR XX which was an engineering and molding work of art.
I was right about the suspension… I don’t have all 4 wheels down :/. Just buttoned it up and not proud of this one, but sure makes you appreciate the good quality kits we have today.
Looks good! You need a Camaro to go with it. If you get a chance, check out Mark Martin’s twitter feed, lots of pics of those cars from that era show up there.
I built an AMT car kit earlier this year and you ain’t kidding about the flash. However, mine went together pretty well after all the cleanup. It is a great car and subject so I understand the desire not to punt. Despite its problem it looks great. Nice job.
