@siiirhd88 Your 69 Mustang must have been pretty cool with that custom front end treatment. Very creative.
Here is the latest update on the 69 Cougar Fastback (aka “Sportback”). Got the first coat of clear gloss on it. This time I tried Dupi-Color 1K Clear Extreme Gloss. It was kind of pricey but laid down great so far 
.
Also the engine is coming along nicely. I’m going to try wiring this one. Never wired a model engine so we’ll see how it goes. I have a pre-wired distributor from Gopher Racing that I may try here, but it lacks detail the one that comes with kit offers. So I will have to consider both options.

Got the HO 302 CID wired. I used the Gopher Racing pre-wired kit. It worked pretty well, but the wires are too thin (should be thicker gage). Still, I would use their kit again, but with red or yellow wiring rather than black. I painted the distributor red and think that looks better than the aluminum it came as.
AMT/Ertl has a nicely detailed shift linkage in this kit. I painted that an accent color flat steel against the bright aluminum four speed transmission casing.

Lots of progress since my last post… so here goes.
I chose some polished Centerline mags with Goodyear pad printed tires from my parts stash
Painted the chassis, flat black primer accented with glass black frames, flat steel gas tank, tin mufflers, aluminum exhaust pipes, and matte black rear axle.
Had to do some engineering to clamp down the chassis when I glued it to the interior tub and body. Tried to be careful with the paint job while clamping here, but it worked great. I used wheel backs from a Craftsman kit in my parts stash, they are smaller than the mags but when I glue them on they will allow some adjustments to the stance.
The window glass from a 71 Mustang was not a perfect fit, but with careful grinding to fit the interior tub better I made it work. Just couldn’t find a 69 Mustang windshield
The back window was fabricated from a flat Lexan panel and it fit pretty well.
Glued the wheels on and adjusted the stance. The exhaust hangs low in middle so the car is resting on it in this picture.
More adjustments on the stance and glued the front wheels in place once I got the exhaust off the deck using the thin sanding stick.
Needs some adjustments to the fit of the hood and have to attach the chin spoiler, but its pretty much done and glue drying. Turned out okay from my first custom build. Not to bad for a kit sold for parts with missing pieces and grafted on fastback roof.

That just looks so right. The colour suits the car and really highlights the body lines. Good choice on the wheels as well, kind of gives it the look of mildly personalized vehicle, the first thing someone changes on a car to stand out.

This car model takes me back to the 2nd car I owned; a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with a 351 Cleveland engine, minus the hood scoop & Cragar rims. My wife’s girlfriend christened it ‘Spooky’ and it stuck. Again great work on this model.
