AMT 57 Bel Air

Hand painting the trim takes a steady hand!

Looking sharp! How is she going together? I’ve been wanting to do a couple of old Chevy’s - especially the 55 Chevy Badman if it gets repopped.

Fine …20 year old AMT tooling is much better than the original 1963 release.

The prettiest Chevy ever built (IMHO), a very nicely done model, and hammers handy if it goes bad!

Classic design!

Dat Is! One very nice Chebby!

I now use Foil Chrome or my “Home Made” Chrome. Painting it with Testors Chrome Silver is an Acquired taste now. Was the Norm Back in the day!

Thanks!

Very nice-I hate doing chrome trim.

What paint/type/color did you use?

Thanks

Bob

Testors Model Master Chrome silver enamel.

Thank you-will have to give MM enamal a try.

Mix it well with a toothpick and use a fine liner brush.Dont breathe when you paint long Chrome trim.

You should try Bare Metal Foil, it’s a game changer. The chrome on this is BMF.

I use Bare Metal Foil too bit I like to hand paint my trim.

Just speaking for myself but on the floor pan and chassis I’d knock the shine down to at least semi matt. But that’s me. I’m trying to think back to 1966 when I spent more time under the hood and under the 55 and then 58 Chevys I owned than in the drivers seat and remembering the original color but all I remember is a lot of New England rust lol. Might have been red oxide though with over spray of body color. You don’t have to listen to me by any means, just sayin.

You are correct. Floorpan should be either red oxide or gray primer with body overspray, frame railes gloss black, front and rear suspension parts semi gloss black, drive shaft steel, exhaust steel. For a factory stock appearance anyway.
