Is the wingtip rail on the 16 the same as the missile rail on the 15 when the Amraam is carried?
I guess you mean the F-16 and F-15. Well I know about the F-16, I work with them every day. The AMRAAM launcher on the F-16 is a LAU-129 launcher, I don’t know if its the same on the F-15 but my guess would be that it is.
Thats all I know, hope it helps.
Well I have done some research, and it seems they are not the same.
If the F-15 carries the AMRAAMs on the fuselage stations its some sort of small rail. On the wings they carry them on some sort of double rail. I don’t know what they are called but they seem very different. Maybe someone else knows more.
Can the Amraam rail from the Hasegawa F-16CJ be modified to look like the F-15’s amraam rail. Anybody got any pics?
The underwing rails on the F-15E are the LAU-128/A Rail Launcher.
There are good photos of them here:

There are links to most all of the launchers on the F-15E here:

Hope this helps

Thanks Mike!
man…I searched and I searched but I just couldn’t find any good pics.
Now that I have looked at the pics I can see that the LAU-128 and the LAU-129 rails don’t look that different. Its all the adapter and pylon stuff that is the big difference.
I found a set by Sol that includes the correct rails with missiles.
I have that set myself and am building it to go on my F-15E.

Do they put Sidewinders on the LAU-128 also?
Yes they do. On the F-15E they regularly put an AIM 9 Sidewinder on the inner pylon of the LAU-128/A towards the fuselage and an AIM 120 AMRAAM on the outer pylon.

Groovy.
