I am painting american paratroopers (101 screemin’ eagles) and i was wondering if any of you more experienced modelers know how to make the netting or camo they use to put on there helmets. let me know
For the camo netting there is two ways to do it.
-
Use some medical gauze. use a littel bit of super glue to hold in place, best place to glue it under the rim of the helmet.
-
Get you some sewing tread, and weave your own. i fyou notice the netting has small twisted protion to the netting. hold in place with super glue.

Medical gauze is ok, but tends to fall apart quite easily, leaving un-evenly sized holes. A good alternative is net curtain material. This is available as mesh in many different sizes and shapes, and just a smal offcut will last a long time.
Plastic screening material works well, too. It’s pliable and it comes in several sizes as well. And check fabric shops for taupe material (that’s the stuff that rice is wrapped in for weddings!)
For 1/35th, try panty hose material. Pull it tight and and a dot of superglue.
