ambush camouflage

I would like to try to do the ambush camouflage on the Panther I am working on but have not done one yet. Does anyone have any tricks to pass along? I have read about doing stencils or just doting on colors with a brush, but not sure what to do or how best to achieve the effect. I thought about just doing a simple dot scheme with the tri-color camouflage on my first one instead of some of the shapes I have seen.

I have seen build logs both ways.I used this book as a refrence,and if you notice he hand painted the “dots”.So thats what I have done.

Thanks. Got some scrap styrene so probably try a bunch of different things.
