How do you guys do the “hard” edges on some ambush camo schemes? The Tamiya Ardennes King Tiger shows quite “hard” edges that I can’t duplicate with my airbrush. I tried redoing the colour boundaries with a brush but that leaves brush marks that I am not too happy about. Can you use some kind of mask? Tape would be a nightmare due to all the irregular surfaces and I haven’t used Micro Mask since doing aircraft canopies years ago. I don’t know if that could be used between colours or not. Over to the experts.
Believe it or not, I used my grandaughters PlayDo, it worked great, just roll it out on a smooth surface to the desired thickness and cut the pattern with an exacto, the apply.
Good luck on that ambush scheme…
Steve
I’ve had luck with Silly Putty!

if you have a look at the Tamiya 1.48th hetzer thread J Hulk posted theres a link to the kit
on that page there a link to how they painted it the ambush its in
(here) http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/32511_hetzer/painting.htm
its in japanese but you can see through the photos how they did it with masking tape
I’ve used play-doh “sausages” to achieve this effect. Sounds like silly putty would work as well.
BTW Steve/Crocket - I’ve been meaning to compliment you on your panther. I just stare at it and get confused. I have an old Panther “mule” that I try new things out on, and your scheme is next on the list. very cool.
I tried Silly Putty, and found it left marks on the plastic, and was a real pain to get all of it off. Anybody else have trouble with it? I’m thinking that Play Doh would leave less mess.
