AM SBD-3 4U2C!!!

hello fellows!! this is Acc. Min 1/48 SBD-3 OOB. a really nice kit. this is the first kit off the bench since i moved in Jan., but i did have it about 3/4 finished before the move. i have a nice array of enamels but since moving into the apartment and quarters are a little cramped, i had to use acrylics. the paint is mixed from tamiya colors. and oh yeah, she is not without some obvious mistakes, like the prop decals being lifted with the masking tape!![V] i quit workin’ on it last night and told myself i’d do it tomorrow…well, i forgot until i took the pics!![:I] i promise i’ll put on some more in a few!![:)]

ahhhhhhhhh, it feels good to be back on the bench friends!! hope you enjoy!! later.

Prop decals lifted by tape? No, just your weathering job!
Looks great!

Looks great nice job on the weathering.

Ahaaa… that’s the dreaded 4U2C model [;)] Looks great SD… I agree with Oscar… just weather that prop up a tad and it’ll be perfect.

Chris, great to see you back on the bench. The Dauntless is a great build. Very excellent work my freind. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Gee, thanks guys!![:)] i’m still aggrevated about the decals, i just forgot to spray the prop tips and alclad on the hub before i applied the decals!! BONE HEAD!!! plus, the decals were protected by a coat of future, and a coat of clear flat too!! i didn’t burnish down the tamiya masking tape either!! oh well, lesson learned. always learning something the hard way round’ here!!LOL later.

Nice build!! Hey what hapened to the Tide at the Big Dance? They’re kiilin’ me in the office pool…LOL. Nice work really…the weathering is top notch in my estimate…

That’s a great looking build Chris and I agree with the others on the weathering. [tup]

Very nice build, Chris! Your move to the apartment might have affected the quantity of your builds, but definitely not the quality.

Mark

Excellent “Slow But Deadly” The weathering is exceptionally well done. How about an explanation of your process?

Looks great Chris! I wanna hear how you did the blue/gray too… I like the “sun-faded” mottleing in the paint…

Very convincing sun-bleached effect on the paint job!

Love the paint. Great work!

oustanding job Chris- simpy outstanding!

That’s magnificent! Really one of the nicest SBD-3’s I’ve seen in a long time.
(I have the same kit sitting in a box in the closet. I’ll probably refer back to these pics when it comes time to build…)

Take care,

Mark

Well its about time Chris!!! [;)]. Where’s the “Crow”, dont make me post a Stang before you do[;)].

Nice filters on it… for an Iwata [:D]. Love the engine work… great detail. Wish ya woulda shot the pit before you closed her up, I remember the other shots of it in progress, woulda liked to see it done.

Email sent.

[:D] An awesome job Salty. The weathering is great. You could leave it as it is and just say it is freshly out of the hanger after having the prop replaced. Really nice work.
Cheers,
Eric
