Waiting for my sandy to set up I got a wild hair up my rear and took the paint off it I had done already… cleaned it up and buffed out the plastic and futured it.
What I decided to do was Inspired by GrandpaJohn and his personal flying circus plane he posted here. This P-51 will carry marking inspired by MTO Mustangs, but completely out of my head. Will Carry the yellow wing bands of the theatre but I am making this the Mustang I would have flown back then. And it will have a gal’s name (all Mustangs need to be named after gals!!) my wife.
some short progress shot off my bench…
I found reference to what panel lines they tended to puttied in for more speed and puttied mine.
All the major panels are done except the rear fuselage which will be chrome and I’ll do that right before decaling to kep my fingerprints off. Dunno whats up with the red on her, doesnt look anything like that in person.
Great idea and work Jeff. I think we all should do our own dream “what would I have flown?” or “what nose art would I have had?” bird. Fun stuff. Maybe I’ll try that… Keep us posted. Leon
Nice looking Mustang Jeff. What are you using to fill the panel lines. I’m using squadron green putty on mine and it just doesn’t seem to want to stay in those grooves. Joe
