AM B-25 questions

Looking at buying the accurate min B-25. I already have the C/D. I was looking at either another B-25 C/D or the G. What are the differences? Are there any, besides the obvious? Does the G contain only the G parts? or is the glass for the C/D included on the sprues as well? Thanks Guys

Had to run down to the basement to check, I’ve got the G model and the clear parts for the glass nose version are also on the clear part sprues. It looks like you could build it either way. As far as I know the G version was a C/D with a solid nose. Hope this helps.

I’ve built the gun-nosed version, and one of these days I’d like to get the cannon-nosed one as well, maybe make it with a more “what if” camo scheme or something. Plus I really enjoyed building the kit itself.

Yeah - that AM B-25 is a great model - can’t wait to get stuck into mine.
I’ve got the Airies cockpit set for it - very nice. Should be a good build - then I just have to find someplace to display the thing - it’s big. Well - bigger than a 1/72 fighter, anyway.

The clear sprue that comes in the G and the C/D (I have both, and the C/D is no longer in production, so if you want one, snap it up) is the same. The clear sprue has parts for all the AM B-25’s, plus clear parts to make other versions that aren’t mentioned in the instructions. Same for the clear tail gunners “dome” which comes in both kits. I am building a PBJ out of my C/D and it needs the dome, though many of the AAF birds did not have it. Thankfully, it came with the kit anyway. I’ve found that you can pretty much make the C/D or even the B model from the G kit, though you might have to scratchbuild a couple of things in the nose.
And for those of you who are detailing the thing with PE, the Eduard Monogram H/J frets, which are much larger than the set for the AcMin B-25B (the only AcMin B-25 set Eduard makes for some reason), will fit on the AcMin kits. So will the bomb bay set, with minor cutting and filing here and there. Also, the frets for the AcMin B model apply to the C/D and even the G just as well, with a few exceptions. Check the Walk Around book by Squadron and the Detail and Scale book. But, beware, the Walk Around gets the sub-types wrong in many cases, calling an H model a G in one example, and there are several other mistakes like that.

Cool, I have one of the original issues of the C/D with the masks and weights. I may just have to buy both kits. Just have to figure out how to sneak them by the wife. I bought the Monogram 1/8 deuce about 6-8 months ago. Stuck that sucker in the closet, right at the front too. A week or so ago, I was cleaning out and organizing the closet and my wife walked in the room. She saw the box and finally asked about it. She had never saw it before. That giantic box, sitting right next to her coats and she never saw it. I must be getting good at this…

Years ago I purchased two Marcos Minitures 1/32 B-25 H/J model kits. The kits are very nicely done except for the canopy and that there is no crew or ordinance to display. The canopy is a very poorly done vaccuform and does nothing for the looks of the plane. I’m not an expert builder so if anyone has had the chance to build one of these kits and found a better way to build the canopy and nose section of this kit please let me know how you did it. Can anyone recommend 1/32 or 1/35 scale crew member kits?
