Hi chaps,
Having nearly completed my 1.72 Revell supermarine spitfire, I was just wondering what sort of kit to buy next.
I’m thinking of 1.72 Hawker Hurricane, but noticed that reviews in fsm normally mention other manufacturers, Hasegawa being one regularly mentioned.
Living in England the 1.72 aircraft market is predominantly Airfix and Revell, but I’m sure I can get hold of other makes if I really wished…
What do you think?
Cheers.
The Academy 1/72nd Boeing B-17F “Memphis Belle” kit. Excellent kit.
I’ve also seen the Airfix 1/72nd SEPECAT Jag-u-war [:D] look very nice. I’m not sure if Revell makes that one.
Good Luck!!
Companies such as Azur, Special Hobby, Sword, ICM,… have many very good offerings in terms of mainstream and lesser known 1/72 WWII aircraft, if that’s what you’re into.
Look at the Hannants ads at the back of Scale Aircraft Modelling (for instance) to see the latest stuff available.
Try a Hasegawa kit-a little pricier but great kits-I think they offer a variety of Hurricanes!
As Domi said, if you’re looking for unusual planes, any of the manufactuirers mentioned will have something that’s bound to peak your curiosity.
Not so much unusual planes, I’m only just starting out really.
Made a few kits as a kid, but no great shakes.
Just getting back into it, but I’m really chuffed with my ‘spit’.
I don’t need anything really complex, the ‘Memphis belle’ sounds tastey gardymason, but might be a bit to much at the mo.
I may opt for the Hazegawa Hurricane, I reckon I could pick that up from Hannants.
Thanks alot guys, I have taken heed of all of you’re advice.
The local model shop, although having quite an extensive range of modelling material and kits, is more of a model railway shop, and so advice is quite hard to come by…
Thanks again.
If you’re just getting into the hobby, then Hasegawa’s kit are perfect. Onceyou get a bit of experience, branch out to other manufacturers such as the ones I mentionned earlier.
Good luck and any chances of any pics…??!
I’ll see what I can do dj.
Then if you are a novice do try a bit of Revell , Airfix first. Being cheap they are expendable in the learning curve. 3.99 stg for a wrecked plane is acceptable …lol
Thats spot on thyamis.
Does anyone know why the Hasegawa kits are so expensive, I know they are of high quality, but surely this can’t be the only reason?
Import perhaps?
