Almost finished with my A-1J

Hey guys, almost finished with my Skyraider. I wanted to get some feedback as to anything I missed or need to fine tune. Fun kit of an interesting and storied aircraft. Also, my 1st post WWII build. Anyway, thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Very nice, thanks for the pics…

Wow! Very impressive.

Beautiful! What scale is that. It looks big. Very impressive paint job and the dripping oil gives it that in use feel.[:D]

Looks great! [tup]

That’s a nice build! I like the weathering, the oil drops/spatter on the centerline tank are really something. I was going to make a comment about how dark/dirty the ordinance was, but then I thought about how those “iron” bombs would sit, waiting to be loaded and what the humidity would do to them after time. It’s a nice effect! I maybe would have one or two that looked a little cleaner/newer just to break up and set off more the effect. Just an opinion. Still, that is a great looking Sandy, I’m waiting for it to cough to life and roar down the runway.

looking good man.i see alot of fire power under the wings…woot!

Pretty nigh perfect, but are you sure that the glare shield is light grey? It would normally be some shade of black.

Looking great. Bryan

Good lookin’ Sandy Bryan. Nice and greasy, just like it should be.

Woooah… now that’s NICE!!! Beautiful and very realistic weathering, my hat’s off to you! [:)]

Thanks,
take care,
Frank

To quote Homer: DOHHHHHHHHHHH. Tailspin, you’re dead on. I was relying on this picture: http://www.skyraider.org/skyassn/memberpics/young/H257taxi.jpg
for the general weathering and chipping. I thought the glare panel was a light color, but it looks like that might just be a chart or something when I get up and close to the monitor. I don’t think I want to risk prying off the canopy at this point, so I guess that major screw up has to live on. Oh well, live and learn!

Regarding the ordnance Lemon Jello, I think you’re right. I’ll liven up the “stripes” and give them some more contrast. I’ll post some follow up pics!

That is one very nice build! I had to do a doubletake on that external tank… at first I’d thought some wash had spilled on it… then I remembered them old recips leaked oil… that is one very realistic bird you got there!

nice job on the skyraider! ditto on the external tank…very realistic.

Very nice build of a very nice kit. Great work !

Regards, Rick

Thanks for all the comments guys. I cleaned up the ordnance as was suggested earlier, and got a shot from a little higher angle.

and lastly, a full side profile.

Thanks again, any constructive advice is greatly appreciated. Oh, and I promise I won’t post any more of this beast [:D]

Cool Spad!

Looks great! I don’t really have anything to add here that everyone else hasn’t said. Consider this yet another compliment for a job really well done.

Good looking SPAD and what do you mean post WWII build, That thing was designed in the 40’s to fight in WWII, but came a little to late(oh you mean Vietnam) sorry

Nice Spad! I need to build the AF version for my meager collection. I wish they would make an A-1E sometime soon. I like your weathering job too!
