I finally took all the info gathered on these forums and put them to good use. This is my first pic posting…so be gentle. [:D] I posted a couple more on the Axis Aces GB and thought I would post one of them here as well:
This is my first model since I was a wee lad and I thank everyone on these forums for all the tips I’ve gained here!
Looks better than the kit I just finished!! And I’m 7 or 8 builds in!!! I really like the base! The mottle looks a little thick, but hey, it’s your first model back. Practice and time and you’ll be a marquee builder here!
Looks good. If that’s your first one in a while I’ll have to watch out for you. German mottle takes a certain skill to get to look right. It’s one of the more difficult paint jobs to pull off.
Thanks everyone for all your comments. I know I have to practice more on the mottling…that’s why I have another Hasegawa G-6 (1/32 scale this time) and Eduard Fw190A-8 in my stash. Practice, practice, practice! The G-6 above is actually my 3rd attempt in this hobby. Here are my first 2:
I still have a lot to learn. Oh well, just a great excuse to buy more kits! [}:)]
Happy building everyone and thanks again for the support!
You guys are WAY too kind! Like I said it’s you guys that helped me out on these builds. Last night I finally called the local IPMS chapter and asked for info to join. There I’m sure to find more great advice. But until now…it’s just been you guys (and that Werner DVD). I feel like I owe you all a beer! [#toast]
Thanks again, guys, for all the support. Take care and ALOHA!
First off - Please, please please pardon me if I am wrong in saying this.
However…
Three almost perfectly built, perfectly detailed, perfectly painted, perfectly decalled, perfectly weathered builds out of three tries, and they are the first models you have built since you were a kid? And the last one on a perfectly constructed diorama base?
Again, pardon me if I am way off base here, but that just doesn’t seem plausible to me.
Unless you had a great deal of previous artistic experience, there is a whole lot of practice and much trial-and-error involved in getting a skillset that gets you the point of building models like you have shown. I don’t know anyone who just picked up an airbrush and put down a beautiful coat of paint without running the whole learning curve.
If I am wrong, again, I apologize sincerely and whole-heartedly. But for now, something strikes me as not right here.
If I saw a new photo that showed all three of these models together, that sure would prove me wrong. And I would swear that 109G-6 model looks familiar to me, but I might have just seen another one presented similarly before…
