Hey guys im looking at starting a GB early next year with the Cat theme, so any of the cat series aircraft (wildcat, hellcat, tigercat, bearcat, tomcat etc. ) Id be running it from about January to September 2011. Any scale, any amount of AM all that and i was wondering if anyone else would be interested.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but it would tickle my fancy, that’s for sure… Hell, maybe I’d even get a couple of builds in for this one. Would the F9F Panther be allowed too?
Mike
Don’t forget the Cougar and Tiger, they were Grumman cats too.
Ok so a full list would include.
F3F/F4F Wildcat
F6F Hellcat
F7F Tigercat
F8F Bearcat
F9F Panther
F9F Cougar
F-11 Tiger
F-14 Tomcat
Thats all of them i think, if there are more let me know
Sorry for the double post but i would also accept the G-164 Agcat
Jaguar
Lynx
Puma
I think he’s wanting to limit it to the Grumman Cats, Fermis… That said, the F3F isn’t a member of the Cat family either… It never had an “official” USN nickname, & the unofficial one was “Flying Barrel”…
I like, I’d be all for it. Rick
Sounds like a good Idea…just wondering though, I realize that it is not Gurmman, but what about the Consolidated PBY CATalina, “Black Cat”? [whstl]

I was initially thinking Grumman cats. But when you start talking about the pby (often referred to as the CAT) It makes me think i should branch it out to any aircraft named after a cat. but then it becomes too messy. Hmm, im not sure. any advice?
Well, there’s two options.
-
Grumman cats only.
-
Anything named after a cat.
Your GB, your choice!
Very true, thanks fermis, i think ill stick with Grumman cats for now. Im pretty sure everyone has at least one in their stash (i know ive got 2) It also caters for almost every kind of aviation modeler out there. everything from WW2 right through to modern. Il make 3 badges. 1 for those who build one cat. 1 for those who build more than one (probly a mod of the first badge with some cat faces or something on it) and 1 for those that build ALL of them.
So does that sounds good?
I think I could go for that with a Panther entry. [Y]

Just as a counter-point, “Cat”- in referring to the PBY, was just naval short-hand for “Catalina” rather than a feline… And it was the Brits that hung the “Catalina” tag on the PBY too… It didn’t have a name before they started ordering them…
If you allow crossovers, I may partake. I have a Panther and Tigercat for my Korea GB for consideration or I may do a Viet Bearcat. Depends on how my model building year progresses.
crossovers are welcome aswell as what if schemes. But it wont be starting till maybe january next year (unless i get a huge amount of interest then i might start it in september) Any Era, any what if schemes, im keeping this pretty open.
Regarding the Grumman only cats…no biggie…just thought I would toss it out there, it was the “Black Cat” thing. I realize that Cat is shortened from Catalina.
I have a Hase. Hellcat in the stash.

So it sounds like a few people are interested
So ill set up the GB now, with a start date of sometime between september and january? any preferences? i know theres alot going on right now, but most seem to finish up around christmass time.
I would be interested in the group with a Wildcat. Would an air racer work for the group as well maybe a Bearcat ?
