Allclad II (P-51D WIP)

Have just discovered Allclad II!! This is the Hasegawa 1:32 scale P-51D after undercoating with Modelmaster gloss black and then Allclad II Polished Aluminum. This stuff is great!!! I cannot get over how deep the reflections are…More pics to follow when I finish it!

ok… not quite finished, but I love the way this is coming out so far, any criticism is appreciated…

I like allclad myself. When I open a kit the first thing I think of is can I use Allclad on this one

Wow! Great job with the Allclad. Can’t wait to see that one finished!

Thanks. This was my first time using it. I am really amazed at the depth of the finish. Now i’m reconsidering bare metal finishes on all the planes i never would have considered before…like a B-17 or a B-36 maybe…

Wow! Looks very shiny! You just have to love that Alclad product. Looking really good so far.

Yeah, the reflections in the first and second pictures look amazing.

One of these days maybe I’ll wander into the NMF arena.

For the moment it’s a bit intimidating.

Don’t be intimidated. It was really very easy. I guess that is what floored me the most about it. When I sprayed the stang with the gloss black , it looked like a patent leather shoe…I was beginning to wonder, what have I done!!! Then, I hit it with the allclad and the results are incredible. This really is easy stuff to apply. I had considered skinning an aircraft in BMF, but that looked far too labor intensive. I have a P-38 to build, and i think that will be the next allclad experiment.

That allclad finish looks beautiful! I’ve heard of the stuff but never tried it, will give it a try on my Tamiya P-51 whenever I can get around to that build.
