Hey all, I’ve got a 1/48 Tamiya P47 that I did in Alclad. Future next, then decals. My question is to get the decal down I used some solvaset on them. As I look at the model a week later there seem to be spots and rings in a few places where it looks the solvaset puddled and dried. I didnt think I put it on that strong, but how does one get rid of the residue. Ive tried windex, water etc to no avail. Some of it looks like it got on the future on the top side of the wing along the leading edge where it probably dripped when I had the model upside down to do the invasion stripes. I definately didnt soak the model with solvaset but will be carefull next time of course. Will future cover this up or am I stuck with this?
A second coat of future should take care of that. Some decal solvents eat into the future fully cured or not. Microscale seems to be the worst for this, but I have had it happen with Solv a set and polly-sol too. Seems to be a future thing[%-)]
It’s more likely to be the polish; many floor polishes have an ingredient that makes them impervious to normal cleaners. To remove the polish, the cleaner needs ammonia; if your decal solvent has a slight whiff, of ammonia, that could be your problem.
Hmmmm that’s weird [%-)] It normally does work great.
I wonder, did you “soak up” excess solvent or let it dry? If the solvent was left to dry on the model in a puddle, it may be the minerals left over. If that is the case, they are permanently etched in there anyway. Sorry sah! No easy fix for that.[sigh]
Normally it’s a haze in the future that can be over coated and fixes the problem. I’ve had that problem also and they both are a pain. [|(]
