Alberta mini-Meet picture

3 of us FSM Message board members decided to have a little meet yesterday, it was very interesting to get to meet 2 people that have so much more experience than i do, it was also very interesting hearing about your stories guys , i can’t wait to do it again. anyway without further delay the picture (yes just 1 [:(] , we took a few others but they’re too blurry unfortunately)

from left to right , myself , shermanfreak , and unfortunately i don’t remeber the 3rd person’s name on here sorry i’m terrible at remebering names.

Thanks for getting the pic posted Max … turned out good considering the lighting in there.

Left to right … PantherLehr (Max), myself, and on the right B.LeCren (Bruce)

We spent a couple of hours in the afternoon wandering arounf the Reynold’s Museum in Wetaskawin, Alberta. It’s a small center just south of Edmonton and was the most convenient location for us all to meet. The Museum itself is dedicated to transportation and has a wide range of vehicles from tractors, to cars, to motorbikes. The second area of interest is the Aviation hall where this pic was taken. Here we are pictured next to a Hurricane (closest thing I could get to O.D.).

A good time was had by all. As Max as already mentioned we are hoping to get together again in Calgary in the new year. We hope that some of the other members will be able to join us. We’ll been touring the Museum of the Regiments (they got’s tanks) and the Naval Museum.

I have a couple more pics from the trip that 'll add here a little later.

Nice to see some faces to go with the names!

Sounds like a good time…anyone get any good shots of that winged thingy ya’ll are standing in front of?

Sorry Chris … only one more pic of that wingy thingy. But here it is.

Bruce arrived in style though … riding up on his custom build Hog. I did get a picture of that.

In all honesty, this is a pic of the British Welbike. Developed in W.W.II for use by the para forces to get around.

Hi there! That’s me, the big furry guy, on the right!
I had a great time meeting the others and checking out Max’s models. Max, I think you have the edge on me experience wise, I don’t think I could turn out a tank as good as yours.

We did see a Sherman, but it was behind a fence (thought I might have to help Robert and Max get over it though … they looked pretty keen to get up close).

A word about the venue:
Sam Reynolds was a car dealer in the 30’s who took anything in trade because of the depression; old tractors, farm machines, stationary engines, aircraft, you name it. The Reynolds family later went on to make their money from mineral rights and started the Reynolds Museum, which is still around today surrounded by acres of old things that Sam had collected (including some armour).
The family gave the best of the collection to the Province of Alberta, which constructed a building to house it. It is the Reynolds-Alberta museum where we met. Adjacent is an aircraft hangar housing many of the Reynold’s aircraft collextion as well as Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame.
We could have easily spent a lot more time there, and it is well worth a visit from anyone in the area.
Byron Reynolds still runs a crew of professional aircraft restorers and also flies and displays some of his collection at various airshows.

I am really looking forward to meeting again in Calgary in the New Year, hopefully upnorth and smithm can join us as well as others.

PS guys, I did buy a car, a 97 Taurus sedan, same colour as the one you saw, so now I have bookends in the driveway.

Regards,
Bruce

I would love to, but I highly doubt that it would pan out

i do indeed have more good pictures of the hurricane , for some reason its only the group shots that are bad. i need to resize them though , i’ll resize and post them first thing when i finish working tomorow. getting a little late right now

interesting tidbit about the welbike , that thing can do 50kph according to the information in front of the display. just imagine hitting a pothole at that speed with wheels that size [:D]

Nice to see more members meeting up with each other.

Looks like you guys had fun. Sorry I couldnt make it but I’ll try to be able to make it to the next one. I have been to the Reynolds museum before (on the opening day of the aviation hall) and I got to take a ride in a 1930’s biplane.
