There allegedly was a falling out between Mig Jimenez and his partner with Mig being “fired”. It appears much more convoluted, but you can read the link.
I’ve found articles and books Mig authored to be extraordinarily helpful as well as the weathering products withwhich he associated himself.
Other way around. He started Mig Productions first, got kneecapped and then started AK with another partner. Apparently the same thing has happened, according to the scuttlebutt.
Poor guy can’t catch a break…
PS: Probably not a good idea to get into the details here, it would most likely be deemed inappropriate for this forum.
Well, you may still get your magazine (which I was looking to subscribe to as well), but the factory making the acrylics, oils, and pigments for AK Interactive will no longer supply/make. The factory, although not named, is owned by someone named Darius Cerver. He will make the announcement on who/what will receive these products some time in the future.
Sad this is happening, I really like their products.
Yeah I could make much of their stuff myself just like I could change the oil in my car. In both cases I’lm willing to spend a little extra and pay someone to do it for me!
There are indications on the European website that something is amiss. Two examples are a link to an important announcement where they guarantee their supply and try to defend their good name. English is marginal, but their point comes across.
The announcement is not dated nor the note on the AK Interactive USA website. It does appear there is a full supply of products from their website. A check of Sprue Brothers shows an extensive inventory of AK Interactive products with all showing in stock.
Another example that all is not well is The Weather Magazine’s link doesn’t work on the European website. I really hoped to get the magazine, but appears that delaying purchase may turn out to be a benefit.
Thanks. I had only checked the News section, seemed the obvious place. If I have got it right from that message on the US site, this doesn’t effect their washes, filters and other products.
What I do find odd is that the guy who posted that message on the US site, who if I have it right makes some of their products, has effectively hijacked the site to post that message.
All a bit of a mess, I have only just begun using their products and really like them, I hope they can sort this out soon.
AS for the weathering magazine (which is great by the way) I read somewhere that Mig will retain ownership of that, So I’m sure it will make a comeback sometime soon. As for AK, I really like their products. Hopefully they don’t go under. I always ordered direct from the European website and had no problems at all.
